When I joined Gather over a year ago, I chose the moniker; Layla, not named after the Clapton song. That morphed into Layla, Merlin and Coco's mom. It made sense since Merlin and Coco, my Siamese cats developed their own following on Gather. Merlin, that cheeky boy even formed his own group, Friends of Merlin.
I felt comfortable hiding behind a fake name. For all my outward bravado, I'm a shy and very private person. As time went on, I added Layla, Gather Goddess, a tongue in cheek homage to Gather. I knew from the start, I would eventually come out of the name closet. For that reason, I've always been careful about what I post and what I say in a comment. I've indulged in my share of silliness but I have never said anything nasty or mean spirited. We may have differing opinions but I've always believed you catch more bees with honey.
Originally, I joined Gather for a writing contest. I stayed because I found kindred spirits. Somewhere along the line, I realized if I was serious about being a writer, I had to be serious about promotion. That's the reality of publishing today. I realized I had to get my name, my real name out there. My real name is Layla Morgan Wilde.
