Road rage - fun?

This is my top 5 "2007 List of Road Irritations". It has changed since I started driving oh, about 2 decades ago...

5) People who swerve like they will pass you but they never do. Guess they just want to tease you a bit or mistake themselves for a race car driver!

4) Passing on the right... uh, not tonight!!

3) Bright lights, bright lights. People proudly displaying their high beams!  Maybe they think it doesn't matter if I can see or not!  They'll just pass when I crash into a wall because I am "blinded by the light!"

2) Get off the phone and drive! Please!!! For all our sakes! I do not think you are cool just because you have people that call while you are driving! If they really liked you, they would wait until you were off the road to talk!

1) Still trailing after all these years --- tailgaters! You actually think I'm gonna go faster when you stick to my butt? I think not!

I lived in Washington State for 13 years where it seemed that Road rage was fairly common. One of the joys of living in the rural South is that we take things slower. That said I still agree with your list. The only thing different is we tend to say things like"Dad gum it I wish that driver wouldn't behave that way. I don't believe I will at him when I go by this time."

Yes, those are all irritations. Here in Cincinnati,there are more people who swerve over the yellow line than I've seen anywhere else I have ever lived (or driven). It's no wonder there are so many head on colisions here. So that's on my list. Not staying in your lane.

Kevin is right. Except for the really big cities, driving is more pleasurable in the south. Slower. Lots of waving going on.

All true! For signals, it's like, they tell you where they've already been if they turn it on late!

Also, people who take 10 min to turn.

In the south (TN) people tend to drive REAL poky! We laugh at that. Here in WI, we're all in a hurry.

Crossing the center line is just plain scary!! Stay to the curve.

Maybe in Washington state people are stressed? It's a cultural thing, they pass it on, even to people out of state?? Who knows for sure!

When people don't use their blinkers, I used to yell out my window "BLINKER FLUID!"
But that was in my young and foolish days...

Now, I'm not as young... ;-P

Ya, sometimes you just have to yell at the other drivers. Can you tell, I really do not relish driving all that much? I don't know about bans, maybe just make them use a gadget so they don't dial and hold it all the time. It's more distracting than anything. People just don't use their heads at all.

It seems these days when it comes to consideration people are "out to lunch!"
No one uses their brain anymore! UGH! Thanks everyone!

There are a couple of states, New York being one of them, that have passed laws against cell phone use while driving. Others require the hands-free if you're going to talk and drive. Since I learned to drive in Southern California, driving anywhere else is nicer. Now that I live in North Dakota my pet peeves have changed. The two biggies are no signals and tailgating, both of which can be deadly in the winter.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha I agree with all of them except the passing on the right.

On our highways here in Canada everyone passes on the right. We have to because all those US drivers think 100 KM is way to fast so they stick to it like glue, in the passing lanes.

Now tell the truth, if you were on your highway and the speed limit is 65, do you stick to it like glue? I thought not, and neither do we. 110 to 120 is our speed and yes we will pass you on the right.

If you like going 100 then stick to the right lane.

Lately warnings out on the news and in the papers say if you are caught in the 3rd lane going 100 you will get a ticket - for what I can't remember but lets just call it stupidity.

Guess every country has their annoyances! That was informative! I remember being in Canada and laughing at the "speed limit 100" signs! :)

One of my favorite driving pet peeves are when a driver pulls right out in front of me as if I'm not even there, causing me to have to stop very suddenly. Why do they assume that other drivers are paying attention?

I'm 54. I haven't had a ticket or an accident since I was 19. I am quite concerned about the crazy drivers I see on the road nowadays. I really wonder why there is so much hostility.

I think people just have too much to do and are too pressed. They take it out on the drivers. Of course, it's not personal, they just need a target for their anger.

And some are just plain rude and too much into themselves to notice others around them, much less care.
