Well, I've been putting most of my work up here since I started to get active in July of this year. I'm just starting to pay attention to my love of writing and my need to get things down in written word each and every day. Thanks for inviting us all to share, though!

I usually promote myself via groups that interest me. I join up as they are reflections of my interests., though they are also reflections of things I write at AC. So, I put out there that I have articles of this nature there if they are interested. I NEVER just fling out links as that's spammy and not my style. It does help both you and them as they learn a bit of their interest and you get some extra in your pocket for the performance bonuses.

I also use a lot of those links at AC and promote my work there. It's time consuming, though I do think that it helps.

Thanks for the opportunity Karen. I spent the summer joining just about every social networking site I could find, though I've spent most of my time here. So far, nothing has made much difference.

I am new to the author/writing business. I haven't done much to promote myself, mostly from a lack of knowing what to do next! I have several articles posted here on gather and a few on writing.com I enetered the First Chapters writing contest, but don't expect a placement among the top twenty-five. Although the first leg of the contest is over, I would still appreciate any critique you would care to leave about that or any of my other articles. I would also welcome suggestions on how to promote. I currently have an agent for my novel, but it is too soon to expect results.
