Did you know that the Good Evening Gather article which is published under the user name of GeGather is accumulating points to be used for gift cards for charities?
Some denounce the article because it is a chat article and quite popular. We have already ordered 3 gift cards from Home Depot in the amount of $50 each to be sent to Habitat For Humanity in New Orleans to help with the rebuilding by that organization. All the points earned by this article will be used for charities to be decided by those who participate. Suggestions are welcomed for charity organizations.
Each and every time you come to the GEG article and comment you are helping, plus you earn points for yourself. That even goes for the drive by raters. If you want to be a part of helping earn gift cards for charities please join us. You will make lots of friends in the process.
Tell all your friends about it.
********UPDATE********
I want to emphasize that I was not alone in organizing this effort. Flit started the group and she and I do the majority of the hosting, helped out at times by Bonnie C, Grems, Jax,Jodi and Greg. We all have input on what gift cards to order and where they go. This is a topic of conversation on the group article for several nights before we have enough input to go ahead and order them. I have been in touch with the New Orleans Habitat For Humanity and have the name of the person to send the cards to as soon as they are sent out to me. Again all of you who drop by the Good Evening Gather group are helping to get points for this effort.

This is a fine way to contribute to mankind and as often as I can I will certainly support this effort. Thank you for loving your fellow men and women. God bless you.
Of course, your tempting offer of lemon bars helps, too. =:o)
I'm wondering if you couldn't put a blurb like this on your GE Gather article every time you run it, like a little footnote or something. I think it's just fabulous what you're doing.
Nice to know that our addictions are benefiting a good cause or two... ;-P
I do try to come an leave a message which is always
late but I do show up! A great thing you're doing!

If you wish to donate to a worthy cause donate to the American Red Cross or better yet to local Scout troops. The Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts do more good than anyone and don't toot their own horn doing it.
I have a low mark up on this book, but could even make it more so that I could give a good gift care with each book sold or our people could buy the book at my maximum discount, put a gift card inside after they read the book and give it to a needy person in the storm zone.
I am also talking to some Habitat for Humanity people but have been too busy to meet them on some ideas I have to build houses faster and better. They may not work, but to date in my life's career I have never had a failure on any of my ideas or inventions so I have hope still.
One who cares.
I don't get involved much in the chat groups because of dial up being so slow. But I will try to pop in and leave a comment or two - even if after hours.
Thank you for this info, I was not aware.
Can you give the cards away without having any tax liability ??
Just asking because I have a few points and don't know what to do with them.

Thanks for the heads up! I will pass it on OK?? :D
I helped build a Habitat for Humanity house in Houston a couple of years ago. One of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
I don't understand why anyone is running down the charity you have chosen to give the group's points to. The Red Cross and scouting organizations are also worthy groups and Habitat for Humanity is on par with them. Each of these groups has a different mission in communities around the world.
Habitat for Humanity is an international, non-governmental, non-profit organization devoted to building "simple, decent, and affordable" housing. Homes are built using volunteer labor and are sold at no profit, with no interest charged on the mortgage. Between 1968 and 2004 Habitat for Humanity has built 50,000 houses in the U.S. and over 175,100 around the world, with Habitat groups working in over 100 countries.

If you see my widgets it means you got a "10" :O)
