Do you have to watch those kids shows too???

I am a stay at home mom. I'm subjected to many kids show a day. I think that Dora the Explorer is one of the better ones out there. Dora teaches the values of friendship, and being nice to everyone, even if you like swiping other peoples stuff.

The show "Max and Ruby" on the other hand is a mess. Ruby is 7 and Max is around 3. Ruby is stuck taking care of her brother all the time, even when she is with her friends. Where are their parents? Grandma comes in once in a while but mostly they are on their own. The Christmas show breaks my heart because I think what happens if Santa doesn't come?

The show "Calliou" has it's good and bad points. It's good because it shows how to be nice to your pets and your siblings. But Calliou oftens whines and frankly it gets on my nerves. I like watching to see how the parents talk to him. I only wish that I could be in a good mood all the time like them.

The show "Arthur" is another good one showing the dynamics of friends and siblings. And heck they have parents and grandparents in it!

I think that one of my son's other favorite show is "Curious George." The premise is good. A curious monkey trying to figure out what to put in a pot of boiling water to see if it gets "flopified." He has the smarts to figure out what to do to find out what he needs to. Then it shows actual kids showing what Curious George was doing in their own experiments.

I enjoy seeing what my son is watching and try to stay away from the channels with commercials....

i am so glad I can't find teletubbies anymore...OMG!!! And my son has always hated Barney.

Flit .. i like the canadian version...but they don't have it on anymore that I can find.

I've never watched max&ruby, but the description of it reminds me of my life growing up. Don't you relise not all familys are perfect, and maybe this show is just trying to show kids like that they are not alone. I sure felt like I was growing up. I was almost when my brother was born. Before I was six I had to become an adult. I raised him. Most of what I learned came from magizines or tv, and when I was old enough to be allowed to wonder around, books in the library. I had to learn to cook and how to keep my brother entertained. I had to do housework, and I also had to figure out ways to earn money since my parents often forgot to save some for grocerys. I moved out at 14 after teaching my bro everything I knew so I could get a job and save money without my parents stealing it. It ended up getting stolen anyways, and there was no way I could have prevented that. But I wanted to prove that I could do it,and then go and get my bro, and be able to prove to the courts if it came to that, that I could do it, even though I had been raising him on my own for years. Anways, my point is not all familys are perfect, and the show is just reflecting it. Where are the parents? Sleeping or out drinking, or on what I figure now was a party binge, where they disappered 3days to a few weeks at a time. they did keep jobs though, most of the time, but very rarly were all the bills on.

My son likes Diego, which is basically just like Dora only with a male character. My kids also love Little Einsteins. It's their favorite at the moment. My daughter's favorites used to be JoJo's Circus and The Wonder Pets.

I hate Max and Ruby! Our boys really enjoy the Disney Channel's preschool programming and it's solid. Higglytown Heroes, Little Einsteins and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse are their faves.

We enjoy Dora also and Go Diego Go. I don't like Max and Ruby that much. One of my kids loves it but I change the channel! lol.

My 8yr old daughter and I have watched Arthur together since she was tiny. I actually like that show alot and I think about her when shes at her moms, and the show comes on. We she was around 3 or so we banned Caillou from our tv because she was starting to emulate his whininess.

The funny thing is I was thinking just yesterday why do u never see Max and Ruby's parents! My son loves that show tho. He likes pretty much everything on Nickelodeon. He went through a Dora phase and he still likes her but he's never liked Diego. He won't even watch Sesame Street anymore :(( They grow up too fast

When I first moved out to Texas I wasn't working and living with my sister. In exchange for rent, I would baby sit her kids. Which was no big deal because they are great kids. I would watch Dora the Explorer, Blues Clues and the Wiggles with the kids all the time. It got to the point where I had all the songs memorized. Nothing like getting those songs stuck in your head!! lol

My kids love Max and Ruby and I don't mind it. They also like Dora and Diego, Blues and a couple others that I think are all right. The ones I don't like are Barney and the Doodlebops (they just annoy me for some reason :-)

You know Im kind of embarrased to say this but I love watching kids shows! I only do it when my nephew is over. I also Like dora, great learning show. I actually noticed when my nephew was younger around 2 or 3 years old, he would participate with dora on T.V and I really think it helped build his vocabulary. Sponge bob although alot of people hate it! I think its my favorite. Hilarious in my opinion even thought its not a good learning show :0)

I HATE - Max and Ruby they are whiny, mean brats - I change the channel!!!
My kid is home sick today & yesterday so yeah - I've been watching a lot of kids tv - I like Noggin & Discovery Kids however we do DVR Curious George everyday - I love that show!!! I could watch Jack's Big music show all day too - they are so cute!!!!

Todds World
Pinky Dinky Doo
Blues clues &
Backyardigans

Then...we move on to Barbie Movies UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I watched power puff girls with my younger brother. A pretty violent show considering it's for kids. But pretty funny though :).

My son is grown up so I don't have to watch them anymore, unless I go visit my grandsons and they are watching them.

I try to ignore them....but we record them on TiVo so she usually has one to watch on demand.....what is scary is that I know the songs....it is driving me a little crazy!

We don't have cable, and our son is not allowed to watch anything other than PBS. So he pretty much watches only DVDs. He has rotating favorites: Curious George, Bob the Builder, Thomas & Friends. Sometimes on a special occasion, we'll let him watch a movie like Peter Pan or Mary Poppins. Apparently compared to other toddlers, he watches almost no television/DVDs!

Anyone ever consider television doesnt have to be educational to have value for a child. I honestly rather have a happy child and the child watch home funniest videos then for the kid to watch shows that are suppose to teach sibling relationships..

My son has brothers, and to be honest his brothers look after him very good because that happens in a big family. Parents are here and around, but he enjoys playing with his brothers. His oldest brother is his idol...

I rather not have the child taught by television. I want him to consider television nothing more then entertainment. That way when he gets older there will be no confusion on authority and sources of truth.

The Little Einsteins! LOVE THEM! ;o) They teach music & art. That is a show I will let my kids watch over & over....
I also have let them watch the Doodlebops, but they are a little weird at times LOL, but I think it's fun cause they sing & dance..
I LOVE music as you can probably tell ;o)
My husband can't stand Dora...but we have never really watched it...we have a Dora Halloween book & my boy LOVES it!
