I got a check in the mail today. It's an infrequent happening lately, so I was giddy and danced around the sofa with my tongue out - waving the check in my husband's face. I sang (in a 6-year-old's style), "I got a cheeeck, I got a cheeeck."
I think I succeeded in making him hate me for about twenty minutes (while he tried to watch a TV show). Hee-hee. I don't care.
Anyone got a publishing credit - recent or not - they'd like to share? Come on! Don't be shy! We want to hear them!

Congrats Lea!
I went on to become a freelance writer and then a book reviewer as my life changed and I had to be home more and devote more time to family. Freelance writing was very time-consuming as I had to interview people, transcribe interview segments, put together an article quickly and then deal with possible last-minute revisions. Most of my articles would be published without major revisions after the editors got to trust my work. Even so, it was very time-consuming, although I learned to write and type quickly and follow certain formulas for specific articles like health pieces. There are certain things readers want and with a minimum of words.
My last published piece appeared online at AC. It pays regularly.
What is AC?
I also write health-related articles. My biggest one (an award winner) was about generic drugs. About 4 different magazines and a newspaper ran it. I'm proud of that one.
Your mother sounds like mine. :-)

Acorn bought some haiku from me before. I've been in Simply Haiku, White Lotus, tinywords, and have been published on the haiku page of Mainichi Daily News in Japan (a few times)
Bret, it's fun getting a check - for $3 or $3,000. Shows someone "out there" values what you have to say.
Of course, The $3,000 check would SHOW me much more, but whatever.
:-)
And Ken, my sir - you are just like other classics. They may not still be on the Top lists, but they hold their own just fine.
It's the content. Always the content.
