I know that these past several weeks I have not been on here much. As most of you know my husband had surgery. The surgery itself went well, but the recovery was really rough on him. The recovery was going slow, but then he started getting really pale, was in a lot of pain, and then wasn't eating or drinking anything.
At first I thought that it might be just the recovery, or the fact that he wasn't getting enough fluids. Then he started running a fever. It started out as low grade, but then got up to 101.2. I called the doctor and he said that since he didn't have any symptoms that sounded troubling, not to bring him to the hospital unless his fever got to be 102.0.
The next day though, he just wasn't acting right and started looking like he felt even worse. That night me (along with my in laws) rushed him to a local hospital. They put him on iv fluids and pain medication and said they were going to keep him overnight, so that they could monitor him and run a few tests. Thank God I brought him in becuase the next night after they ran some tests, they found something really scary.
They found that not only was he severely dehydrated, but he had pnumonia and several clusters of blood clots in his lungs. When the doctors told me I just lost it. They put him on bed rest for several days and gave him antibiotics, more pain meds and a blood thinner. He spent eight days at the hospital (I did not leave the hospital for those eight days).
He has to be on the blood thinner for at least the next six months and have his blood tested every week. As much as I hated to see him in pain, I thank God that we took him to the hospital. Sorry to everybody about that long article, but I just wanted to let everybody know what is going on.
I also wanted to thank everybody for their prayers and ask that everybody continue to pray for his full recovery.

I'm going through some health concerns right now with my Mom (she has terminal cancer) so I can relate to what you have been going through. I hope you both can get some rest now that he is home again.
My happy and healing thoughts are winging there way to you and your husband..
God bless you and your family..thanks for your kind comments
May your new year be better than the old one.
I a curious, did you sue his primary care doc for not telling you to take him in with those symptoms? You could have lost your husband because his fever was not 102!
