I know I have been lax on getting new Two Word Challenges posted since school began at the end of August. I will try to get that going again soon, and if anyone has ideas, feel free to send them to me (though my Gather mail is ridiculously full of junk and I am likely to miss it -- if you get no response, you can send an IM on yahoo if you'd like (thx4memories). Just make sure you say you are from Gather so I will know who you are.
I have had an idea I have been mulling over for the past week or so, and decided to make it a special Two Word Challenge. I call it "30 Things in 30 Years." You can think of it as 2 TWC pairs being combined in a special challenge. Have you heard the song by Tim McGraw called My Next Thirty Years (if not, click the link to read the lyrics, then come back here)? This song is about coming to the thirtirth birthday and making decisions about how the next 30 years will be different from the first 30. I thought it would be neat, regardless of age, to make a list of 30 things to do, be, become, have . . . in the next 30 years. This not only gives you challenges to achieve, but also a timeframe to complete them in.
Then I thought, what if you complete them all in less than 30 years? Well, that is just fine, but to prevent you from EVER actually completing the list (so you will always have things to work toward), once you have completed 20 of the things on the list, you have to add 20 more new things to bring the list to 30 again. This will provide you with a personal life challenge and (as all of us Gatherers love) lots of material for Gather articles. You can post your 30 things in 30 years list, write articles about each thing you complete from your list, create groups for people who share common things on their list . . . Basically, whenever you have writers block for Gather articles, you can pull something from your list to write about - even if it is "Why on earth did I put this on my list" or "Help me reach my goal - looking for expert advice" . . . . And of course, anyone who completes 20 gets to post a celebratory article about it and include the 20 replacements for the list.
If you think this will be a fun and positive thing for your life (or if you just want to write a satirical piece about this concept) then post your article using 30 things as a tag or part of your title.
Please remember that ONLY submissions pertaining to the Two Word Challenge (current or past challenges) will be accepted to the Two Word Challenge group. Off topic submissions will be declined.
