I wonder  if it will be a harsh winter.  They say you can tell by how early and how much squirrels hide a winter supply of food.

Squirrels In Fall 

 

Squirrels digging holes

All over yard and garden

Hiding winter stash.

Great image and poem. I think the woolyworms are easier to tell. Maybe dowsing would be better, but I don't know how to do that. yet.

Heck yeah! Our herd of squirrles at my house a tearing up half the lawn by hiding their stash. The crappy part is, they don't even remember where about half of it is when they go to look for them so they tear up the yard even more!

Well, kind of, i guess! It looks way better then when you have your lawn aerated. After that it looks like a million geese converged on your lawn and took a crap!

Michael, That is a ground squirrel, called by many a Grinny. They are as bad as the regular tree climbing squirrels when it comes to making holes in the yard, worse maybe.

Wonder if it's related to how fast the acorns fall from the oak trees. It's like it's been raining acorns for days outside. I wonder what happens if one lands on a squirrel.

we have squirrels here,, they run across the front window on the cable wire, just to bug poor pluto,the puppy,, Midnite know better,, he watch and seem to smile as think you dumb dog they out there we in here,

Great picture. We have lots of their relatives here in California. They tend to burrow into everyone's yards but I think they are really cute and when I lived in an area where there were many I used to sit and watch them. My husband hated them because of mowing but .... life goes on.
