So.... an update re: creepy guy .... my youngest daughter got followed home - ALL the way home - last night ... she had a class until 10 p.m. ... took bus home. Guy made her uncomfortable.... talking about ipods being easy to steal, asking for hugs, etc.... she went into a store and stayed there long enough that she thought he'd gone away....couldn't see him when she came out ..... started walking home and he popped up again and continued trying to engage her in conversation etc.... including stuff re: what an unsafe neighbourhood she lives in (it's not; intimidation tactic, I think)
After some dithering, she agreed that I should call the police on her behalf, which I did... the woman I talked to then called her, and sent a car round to talk to her... guy wasn't seen by then; no surprise.... but if nothing else, report has been filed, and kid has been instructed to call sooner rather than later in such situations - and certainly to call right away if she sees that particular creepy guy again.
On another note, got confirmation re: courses I'm teaching next semester and
about that..... not only do I have four courses (benefits, higher pay, office, phone, etc) ....2 of them are sections of my favourite courses to teach, Relational Database for the Aviation Management program. I had those the year before last, and was able to make some changes to the assignments that made it way more relevant to the students and I was sooooooo disappointed when it was given to someone else (a full timer) last year.
So - even though I'm totally swamped, broke and stressed out this semester - just have to make it through to January.... having it settled - and to look forward to - makes this semester seem not quite so ornery.
Oh, and estate stuff could be settled as early as tomorrow - just got to sort out the changeover of the house insurance.
And the course that has been stressing me out (the one I'm teaching) - I did the schedule for today and now that I've broken it down into chunks, it's feeling rather more doable - going to do what someone suggested and do a bunch of groupwork (ie. get students to research and learn and then share with the rest).
And I now have the essay questions and due dates for all but one of my courses.... plan is to get that all sorted this weekend.... figure out what topics I want to do, put all the due dates in my calendar, and come up with a plan.
Oh, and I will most definitely finish up the stuff I need to have done re: the first of my scholarship applications today; arranged for my letters of reference yesterday; figured out that I don't have to do transcripts (it says only University - so it's only the Uni I actually go to that matters and they do that automatically) ....so it's only 2 one page thingamajigs that I have to write up to worry about..... for a shot at $15,000, it's worth the aggravation.
Did I mention that
?
Oh... and if you haven't voted yet, the contest is now in the final stages ... i.e. no new entries, and the number of votes per entry is hidden ....I had 219 when I last looked.... the leader had 395!!!!!!!!
Top 10 go onto the judging round.... please, please, please - if you haven't voted..... click here and go vote for my short story! I would REALLY appreciate it.

Your legs have got to be tired you've been dancing for hours!!!
Glad you are doing the happy dance....wish I could...felling better today...still not feeling good though...
I just read your story and voted for you. Good luck!
Your happy dance guys are cute!
And about your daughter: I hope she carries a cell phone, and will call the police immediately if this guy shows up anywhere near her in the future!
De...that is really interesting info ....glad I pushed the 'calling the police' thing
I'm glad things are manageable for you. I hope your daughter carries some pepper spray.
I'm just nursing Kevin today. He's an awesome patient. He doesn't cry like most men.
I'm still looking for Angela W. Off the wall, I know, but I miss her, "Thanks for sharing", so I'll say it"
Flit:
Thanks for sharing!
She could carry the spray in her pocket, have her hand on it all the time.. an use it if she needed to.
The only time I ever went to a movie alone (I was 18), I had a man sit next to me and start playing with himself. I got up and moved, but I saw him standing at the back of the theater. He followed me when I left the theater. I was parked a few blocks away and was afraid he would wait until there was no one around and then I would be in trouble. So, while there were still people dispersing from the theater, I walked up to a total stranger, told him I was being followed, and asked him to walk me to my car. The pervert disappeared. I have never gone to the movies alone since.
Now, Congratulations on getting the classes! Your are amazing. Great that you're getting yourself organized. I have found that knowledge is power and knowing what is due when and have it on a calendar has always been helpful for me.
Take care!
I'm always happier and more likely to go to sleep once I see them pop up on the msn .... I like to know they're home safely
right at the moment I'm stressing about tonight's class, grems... but in less than 3 hours it will be over :)
