I actually were little to no jewelry. The last time I wore a necklace it was broke by a stray toddler hand on it. (It can be fixed but years later it still sits broken somewhere around here)
I don't wear earrings for many of the same reasons (plus I'd have to reopen my holes in my ear and that's always painful.) Come to think of it... I need to reopen my naval piercing as well.
silver and gold. My favorite piece of jewelry is gold with a splash of silver around the oval which holds an engraved picture of Mother Mary that I wear everyday. I got it from a wonderful friend.

Seriously, my wedding set is gold, but I wear a lot more silver; it's more affordable.
