OK everyone....if you don't care anything about points, just close this article out and don't even read past this point.
For all of you that have fun on here with points....
I started a group yesterday, posted to MANY articles, and more and guess how many points were added to my total since yesterday morning at 8 am? 1 point !!!!
What gives here????
I just don't get it.

Example : Gather is given out 5,000 points and 3000 members posted or comments. Than you would get at least one point. Maybe two if you were a top poster for the day.
You are the first one I've seen who has posted their 'point theory' with that kind of confidence. Everyone else sounds like what George Carlin always said what the priests always said... "Well, it's a mystery"...
I personally come here to have fun, chat, get new recipes, post opinions and play games and of course....EARN POINTS for prizes.
With the addition of video and the surge of new Gatherers, and the slumping economy the points had to slow down. If they have more people posting and commenting and LESS people advertising then the profit margin narrows.
just my opinion
As Mythbusters would say though... Sandy's theory is plausible... :-)
Check your totals only periodically and don't focus on your current earnings as a gauge for how your current activity is rewarded.

I read it as answer someone gave asking the very same question in this article.
The points algorithm was recently modified to cut down on point whoring and begging behavior. The system scans article Groups and tags that have the word "Points" in them and actually awards fewer points than they have in the past. Articles posted to more than 20 "point whore" groups automatically receive a maximum of 1 point per day. Extra punctuation also no longer earns any points.

I'm insured!
I did notice a jump of 50 points yesterday. Better than the 2 I got the day before.
goes up and down in no predictable order.
I try to check it once a week and not so
much day to day.
