Two years ago I took a wonderful class on Islam at LLI. The facilitator had lived for several years in the Middle East and was fluent in Arabic. I threw myself into this with a lot of independent reading and research. I came out with a reasonable understanding of the religion and the cultures of the region. Next week I begin a Comparative Study of Arab Nations, also at LLI. We will cover Lebanon, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Iraq and Palestine. Don't be surprised if there are more posts on this subject.
