But I happen to be sitting at a restaurant working on my Honours Essay stuff .... it is a beautiful fall day; I'm outside on the deck enjoying the sunshine.

Did my presentation re: workhouses (Dickens) this morning; I think it went okay. Got 20th Century Poetry at 3 this aft, and then teaching tonight from 7 - 10 ...so won't be able to chat this evening.....

So if anyone is around now and feels like dropping in.....

got way too many essays to work on ...and reading.... and grad school and scholarship applications and.... and... and ....!
I think the 80s is what it will be here, too. So glad it won't be going up to the triple digits.

made lots of progress but didn't FINISH anything

I got 20 pages done on the novel last weekend... going to try to finish it up this weekend..... and also the scholarship application stuff.... it SEEMS like a huge project, but once I pulled out just MY parts, it's not that big a deal ..... and my gather friends will help me edit it :)

probably provided by the Canadian Government, I would think .... almost everything is up there ..... most of the people who live up there... the native population ...don't work ...at least not in the sort of occupations we would consider 'jobs'

they DO hunt and fish and live off the land though .... sounds like work to me

I would consider hunting and fishing a lot of work. Did you read Ruth MacGill's article about the man living off the grid? He's out somewhere in a stone house. It sounded so fantastic. Except for not having an indoor toilet. But I would so love to go some where totally unpopulated.

Ruth mentioned the .... oh, heck, I forget the world, the whirly gig things in the air that produce energy, durn the name'll come to me, just not yet. It was incredible. The man could actually live there. He did build his mother a house with electricity and indoor plumbing. In this frazzled city, an isolated life sounds like a dream come true to me.

back when I was working at Woodeden camp, I used to suffer until the kids were all settled, then walk all the way back down to the cabins to use a washroom... and in the morning I'd get up very early so that I'd have time to go and come back before it was time to get the kids all up LOL

Clothes in the car must be a young people thing except for Flit. But she says she has to take them in so she doesn't run out. I always just prayed when I was in my daughter's car that I didn't get stopped. You never knew where there was an exposed bra. I gave up cleaning her car or getting bags to put her paraphenalia in. It could be quite embarrassing.

Flit, If you just are a spur of the moment computer fixer, then let me send you mine. LOL. You might have to find another place to sit between classes. I feel for you.

The solar panels are still so expensive. Somebody's working on a way to put them in paint that is painted on. When the technology gets better we might be able to use it en masse. I think that will be good.
Mike asked what I want for my BDAY and I would really like a laptop. That way when I work away from home, I could do things on there and not have to wait until I get home to do some things.

I'd like a brand new lap top. It'll be a while. Bought a used one. Then the man told me you couldn't buy batteries for it. Company went out of business. Made me mad as hell. I felt deceived. His wife had called him for me to make sure it worked and he'd told her it worked great. Then he told me he wouldn't add anymore stuff to it. It's overloaded already.

I have a life drive too, which is cool... although my keyboard quit working on me and I haven't taken time to figure that out .... but the laptop is better

Flit, I wish you'd do an article or something about these flexible solar panels. I know there's something we can put on the windows to retain the heat in winter and cool in summer, and still don't know where to buy it. Don't even know a name for it yet. My neighbor said you had to use a hair dryer to make it stick to the windows. It sure would help to really get some protection from the elements.
