It is good that he is free. My Grandpa lived with hospice in-home care for his last week, and it was a god send for him.

What a lovely tribute, and wonderful attitude. I'm sorry for your loss, but celebrate his freedom with you.

I think it's wonderful that you can understand that it was your uncle's time to go. Too many people hang on to loved ones as though they are possessions....not thinking about the beauty and wonder that awaits them when they leave this world.

having those moments of clarity and speaking with one near the end of their journey here are truly a blessing in our life. in many ways i am comforted to know that close ones have gone to a place i too will go. my thoughts are with you Pamela.

I am so glad that you got to tell him what he meant to you. I think one of the most wonderful things a person can have is a good death. Free and clear of any earthly troubles and surrouned by love. He will truly be waiting for you. Bless you and your family.

I can only hope to have the same disposition as you someday when it comes to the passing of a loved one. My father was ill for a number of years and it was quite painful to watch him until the very end. You know, he never asked "why me" or "why this". We were happy that he too was finally "free". If we know that our loved ones know what they mean to us on a daily basis it can be less traumatic when we didn't get to say goodbye. I didn't get to say goodbye like you did for your uncle but my father knew I cared. Thank you for inviting me to Gather!!! I think I'm going to like this.

He resided in New Jersey; from where he departed this earth on September 19, 2007. Ronald worked with the Atlantic City Housing Authority for 33 years. He leaves to cherish his fond memory his loving wife of 40 years Hellena L. Coleman and his three sons Clifton N. Coleman (Michelle), Allen R. Coleman (Shante), Brian C. Coleman; four grandchildren: La'Szhay D.; Keosha S.; Khalil K. and La'niyah A. Coleman. His two brothers: John N. Coleman (Claretha) and James E. Coleman, Jr. (Nan); two sisters: Frances M. Tyree (Albert) and Ella D. Stanley (William), father-in-law, James W. Garland, Sr., (Penny) and his brother-in-law, James W. Garland, Jr. (Sandra) and one aunt and a host of other loving family and friends. Also to cherish his fond memory his god-daughter Ruth Dublin and special friends Lenny Dublin and Steven Gardner and a host of others. A viewing will be held at Victory First Presbyterian Deliverance Church, Pacific & Pennsylvania Avenues, Atlantic City, Tuesday, September 25, 2007 from 10am until 11am; funeral service immediately following. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Greenidge Funeral Home in Atlantic City.

As for as Hospice- I think they're an awesome bunch of people!

Pamela, I am so glad you can take his passing in a peaceful way for him and for you, for I too know that feeling. One year ago today in about three hours, I got the telephone call telling me my husband had passed away. I wasn't shocked, he had been in a nursing home for a year, but I was sad for me, and happy for him, he hated it there and I think he wanted to go home, so he went when called, peacefully in his sleep. I am glad I got to read this, a bit late, but my heart goes out to you and his family.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was very touched by how you told your uncle how much he meant to you. I know people who have regrets because they did not take advantage of that last opportunity to converse with a special person, and as a result, never got to say any of the things that are important.
