Bedtime Stalls

Around nine o'clock tonight I walk passed my sons' bedroom door on the way to the bathroom. 

The 5 year old calls out to me, "Momma?"

"Yes, Cody?"  I ask.

"What's Heaven?"  He asks.

That would be so cute if it were not for the fact that it was a bedtime stall devised simply to delay going to sleep.

GRRR!  They are so adorable and too dang smart!

What bedtime stalls do they try at your house?

Dude - my kid gets me with the - "i needed one more hug"

We have a very strict routine that never wavers and is there to prohibit stalls. (yeah right).
Everynight she bathes, brushes teeth, puts on jammies, we get her water, read a book, say our prayers and then put on music - there should be no reason whatsoever to get up. But every once in a while she gets up with the hug or kiss thing -

They kill you don't they??????????

Everything and anything,including sneaking out the window to try and sit on the deck, falling off the roof and breaking a finger. That one worked as we spend a good deal of time in the ER

Make that "spent a good deal of time". If we actually were spending much time in the ER, I'd be too broke to have computer access.

Oh my sons go to their dad for bedtime stalls as they know there is no mercy with Mommy.

Such an important question for such a young man. . . .

I don't deal with these now but I remember that old drink of water, bathroom, just one more commercial ones.

I haven't really had to deal with these yet since my sons are 22 months and 8 months. But the other night my husband put the kids to bed and I was doing my final check through the house to lock the doors and turn off the lights when I noticed the boys' bedroom light on. I just told myself, "I can't let him do anything. He didn't even turn the light off." So I go to turn it off and both boys are wide awake playing and guess what? They both needed a diaper change so there was another 15 minutes added to it. Turns out though... the oldest one has been moving his bed and turning on the light.

You name it......my daughter has tried it. (needs Daddy to get the monster out of the closet..........needs a hug........needs another drink.........has to go potty........her doll baby is crying and needs a bottle.......just not tired yet.........needs another book)

I remember those days well! From drinks of water to extra bathroom visits....my kids tried it all!

She always wants something...lately she asks for chocolate, I say no, she asks for ice cream, I say it's too late, then she asks for a banana and I say ok (BTW something in bananas help you to sleep)

My 2 1/2 year old is potty training so she knows if the bedtime routine is all over and done with the one thing that will get her back up again is to ask to use the potty...what am I going to say, no-go in your diaper just for tonight?! She knows that'a a sure thing to get her out of bed for at least another 10 minutes..

it doesn't matter what we do they always need to go to the bathroom one more time. So it is just part of the routine now. they walk right past us sort of snickering and slinking to the bathroom where they sit as long as they think they can get away with it and run back to bed. it is so funny that they think we don't see them sometimes. they go right past us! Sometimes they are so quiet we forget they are in there til they go running past back to their room. Shh. Don't tell them! Too young to sneak out the window yet.
Oh, gee, I don't remember any more. But I remember they did it, every night, for years and years and years. LOL

We get alot of the extra bathroom trips. My favorite is sneeking into the hallway to watch tv. Drives me nuts.

We had our first yesterday. My parents were over and the twins refused to go down for their afternoon nap. They were enjoying all of the attention. Our son never had his afternoon nap (athough he passed out after his 4pm feeding for a few hours -- normally only sleeps for 20mins after that one) and our daughter collapsed about 45mins before the 4pm feeding. They usually nap between 115 to 3 (or 330).

we get them all....the biggest is "I need to pee" seriously, how do I tell your toddler to hold it at night and yet they will pretend to go pee ab out 13 times a night.
Mine will always come out and say, "Mom, I've got a question." and when I ask what their question is they'll stand there for two or three minutes going, "Ummm, my question is . . . ummm . . . "
