Raffles... a nice hotel in Singapore.... the home of the Singapore Sling.

My husband has won (2) QuikTrip cards for $ 30.00 each for carpooling at his work.

At my works summer party I won a t-shirt with the company logo on it... It was too big for me and why would I wear a shirt with the company logo out in public? I wear it around the house, it's like a dress so I don't have to wear pants when I wear it..

Work gifts suck!

I've won some cash prizes at the church I used to attend-one time I won $250. One job had a raffle if you donated blood and I won a "baseball' jacket with the logo of the firm.

We just sent some raffles tickets to a mission back in NY that comes up on 9/30 for $10,000 grand prize. That would be SWEET!

It's funny without consciously thinking about it-I've "seen" a large check with the payor being the State of CA and the check is made out to Gary. He's standing there grinning..who knows?

I never used to win at raffles, but my luck changed and I won a few small items at fundraising raffles. I do much better at getting people to donate items for raffles. I got my friend who owns a ghosttown to donate a night at his town at a history conference I went to.

Probably the best thing I've won at a raffle was a case of wine from a Casino Night raffle at my daughter's school. It was good wine, too!

Never win the darn things.

I've won two that I can remember. One was about six years ago for a day at a local spa. That was nice!

The other one was a gift basket from our United Way corporate campaign promotion at work.

I've never won a raffle, but they did have a game at one of our local grocery stores once. You had to save these stamps they gave you and get 3 of something (sort of like McDonald's monopoly.) I won $500 on that!

About twenty years ago my dad won a raffle. A Honda Motorcycle (Goldwing?). The same month, maybe same week, one of his close friends from work (when you work in the same mill for 40 years - they're all 'close' friends) had his wife pass away unexpectedly. My dad's friend was horribly shaken because they never seen it coming. The friend needed to get a way for awhile. My dad GAVE his friend the Honda, the friend took time off and he took that Honda across the country. When he got back my dad let him KEEP it.

I could never had done that. I think that was probably the only major raffle my immediate family ever won. And my dad gave the prize away.

I have won a contest one time, a high/low money game. every hour the radio station would let somebody make 2 guesses, and they would say whether it was hi or low. I won 1203.38. Boy did that come in handy!! I was half asleep because it had gone all day without a winner. I was half asleep when they called for the next contestant. When it was over and they told me I won, they said I would be able to pick up my prize in 2 weeks. When I got up in the morning, it didn't seem real. I knew they announced the name of the previous winner the next time they played, so Monday morning I was listening for the annoucement, when they said that they had a winner late friday, and they couldn't find the guys name. When they said guy, I got upset thinking I had had one VIVID dream. Calling the station, they said that they won't have the information on the winner, until they had the check ready next week. IT WAS THE LONGEST WEEK OF MY LIFE! When I called and told them my name, and they said that I could pick up the check and the address, I was ecstatic!

That is the extent of my winning, but i am grateful for that!

That is an amazing story Robert. They say what you give comes back to you twofold. Your father must have had a lot of blessings.

We have a new raffle at work today. Someone bought me a ticket, but of course I did not win.

I don't usually participate. If a kid is selling tickets to sponsor their sports team I buy one thinking of it as just donating to the team.
