All through this time that people have been having trouble posting and commenting, I must have been subconsciously gloating or something. My problems have been quite minor, in that I sometimes have to hit the refresh button a couple of times in order to watch a video. Pretty tame stuff.
Janie can't even see videos on her computer. Doesn't matter whether they're on Gather or that other sight which will remain nameless. Someone will be on it soon, though.
As I was at my computer the other - was it afternoon or evening(?) I don't know. What I do know is it was the last time I saw my computer alive. It's not all dark. No nothing like that. It's doing things in a sort of undead way.
It was taking a long time to get from one web page to another, and the hourglass hung there for a long time. I couldn't move to Word or Excel or Free Cell or anything, so I hit what I think is a sort of "reset" button on the front. It went dark and then started to install Windows 98.
I don't run Windows 98. I haven't for years and never on this computer. But I hit the button you're never supposed to hit lest the computer shut down improperly, because I know damned well I don't want to install Windows 98 because it probably doesn't support half the things I've created over the last three or so years.
So, here I sit at my work computer because I'm afraid to wake my home computer lest it begin to moan and follow me around the house.
A tech will come over after work on Thursday. I know he'll figure it out, but for now I'll have to amuse myself in distinctly unsocial, low tech ways.
I'm sorry I didn't show adequate sympathy for all your miriad computer woes. It was an oversight.
I would now like to join your cult, if you'll take me.

Sorry for your difficulties.
LOL
I am a member of a rather large community of forestry, logging and sawmill type people. The information base was amazing. The other day it was all gone. They lost everything and have to start over from scratch.
Ron we all become members of that same cult when we buy a computer...any computer...no permission or invitation necessary!
Thank you all. I'm of course stuck away from a computer most of the time until Thursday evening. I'm not ignoring you, and I feel all form and wuzzy now. Much appreciated.
