The cruise is well underway and with so many members onboard (over 1,400!), it’s been a great way for us to all come together again. Whether you’re a top cruiser like Gerald Barbalock or Mary Lou Pugh or you’re a new member to our Crown & Anchor Society, this has been a wonderful way to see old friends while making new ones!
On Day 2, we spent a fun-filled (and busy) day with activities such as the Crayola® Adult Art Class making Decoupage Journals, learning how to take pictures amidst the breathtaking Alaska scenery in the Digital Camera Seminar, salsa dancing in the afternoon and making scrapbooks recapping all the wonderful memories made onboard this member cruise.
Our frequent cruisers spent the early afternoon at the Cruise Critic Polar Bear Express Meet & Mingle party. It was great to give you a warm welcome back and share our stories from past member cruises. Many of our members are experienced Alaska cruisers, so it’s been interesting hearing your insider tips on shopping, great restaurants and shore excursions at our port cities.
Yesterday, in the Alaska capital of Juneau, our Diamond and Diamond Plus members spent the day exploring the Mendenhall Glacier and experiencing a true Alaskan Salmon Bake. Without letting a little rain stop us, the views of the glacier were breathtaking. Upon viewing the world-famous glacier, we feasted on wild Alaskan salmon that was so fresh – you’d thought it had been caught that morning (and it may have been!). With the Alaskan folk music in the background, delicious food in front of us and great conversations with our members, we knew we were creating lasting memories that we’ll all come together and share on future cruises.
Our Diamond and Diamond Plus members have spent each evening in the StarQuest lounge on Deck 13. Overlooking the Alaskan scenery, they’re warming up from the brisk weather and recapping the day’s events with fellow members and old friends, it’s been great sharing the new adventures had each day.
Today (Day 5), we’re in the historic Gold Rush town of Skagway, Alaska. In this early morning, the fog is lifting off the water against the tree-covered mountains creating a view that is nothing less than spectacular. Our members are sipping their morning coffee and already hitting the great deals in the local shops or hopping onboard the historic White Pass Scenic Railway Tour.
Now’s your turn! Tell us the new adventures had onboard the Ultimate Alaska member cruise! What’s been your favorite so far and what are you looking forward to next?
