1) Good poetry can elevate us to a different experience with use of imagery and metaphors
2) Good poetry can say so much in so few words. A whole story can be told in not many lines
3) Good poetry gets contemporary poets closer.
4) Reading about the great classic poets, one tends to learn a lot about poetry, structure and nuances
5) Good poetry gives us insights about era, periods, or people, whats in their minds, thinking etc etc. Poetic forms too...
6) Sheer love for poetry pulls some to it.
