Images vs Articles

I have not been on Gather for a terribly long time and tend to lean toward writing articles. Occasionally, I take a few minutes and post an image or two, but sometimes I even forget that option is available.

I am not sure that one rewards more points than the other, but I think it would enhance my experiences here on Gather if I took the time to add images more often. Are you an image or an article person? Do you find that one yields more comments or points than the other one does?

I would love to hear about your choice of medium and your experiences with it.

Images with your articles will help you get more points. Also try to do as many comments on images as you do on articles.

I would suggest publishing the work you are proud of and that you think the public would value. This shouldn't be about points; it should be about personal satisfaction in a job well done.

I never remember to look at images unless someone reminds me. I bought a digital camera a couple of months ago to publish some images. The icon I have now is one of those I took, but I took down the pictures of friends, a couple of me, and some around my home because I don't feel comfortable having strangers see many of my personal things.

Generally I prefer to post photos over articles. I do both a fair amount but I lean far more heavily on the image side of things.

I love both equally, but I tend to post more images than articles, that is when I can find time to get on gather.

I love photography and I love writing, and I have found that Gather is an excellent place for me to enjoy and do both. At this point in my life I have put my career on hold to take care of my family, but I really do see Gather as a great place to get experience and to keep my skills up to date, for when I am ready to reenter the work force.

Some days I don't have anything to write about or I am having trouble with an article. It is easier to comment on photos and a nice break from reading articles. I try to do both.

I am both a writer and a photographer. I tend to post more images because it is quicker for me to still participate on gather. I don't do it for the points, however, I enjoy the Borders gift card when it arrives. I have taken a lot of time to put together great articles only to have practically no visitors and that can be frustrating. Lately most of my writing time has to be devoted to getting good grades in school!

Lately I haven't done much of either one. I like to comment on others peoples stuff. I guess I am still a bit shy. LOL. I have put up some videos but they don't go over very well. Many people can't watch them.

I do some of both. And a couple of videos too. I never know what will get the most vistors, so I just post what I like. But haven't done too many videos since those get all but ignored. There is just so much great stuff here on Gather it's hard to keep up :)

Karen, my personal favorites are photo essays or stories that add a photo or two. Even a video with a great caption captures my attention. I don't know if any of these garnish more points, but these are my viewing preferences.

I find that, on average, people comment more on my images than on my articles. I tend to comment more on articles. Every now and then I will see an image or someone's icon (which will make me look for that in their images) that takes my breath away and those are the ones I tend to comment on. Sorry to all the animal lovers, but one dog and cat look just like another to me.

I tend to post both. I like posting images because I can share them with my co-worker without having to bring a photo album.....

I also like articles, enjoy others' views and creativity.....
