My article : "Kathy" was flagged.

I just read and commented on it. I saw the flag but was still able to read and comment. I have no idea why it was flagged.

I found it strange Carol that's why I asked. I remembered the story. I agree, whoever flags it should be decent and brave enough to leave a comment saying so and why. Better yet, why not send you a personal e-mail and discuss it first.

I also read the article...there is no reason that should have been flagged unless someone is a) so sensitive that the word "rape" offended them (they shouldn't be on a computer) or b) upset with the mass email...which you never do which is why I read it, and doesn't mean the article should be flagged. I'm sorry it happened...

Wow, it's really sad that someone flagged it. I just don't get it.. maybe it's because I'm still a newbie around here.

I really have to idea why your article would of been flagged. But I have a good guess. I bet it was someone on your email list. As I sent a link asking people to read one of mine. Than my article was flagged as spam. But it wasn't spam at all. As it talked about what a terrible day I had. Not a rant....just a terrible day.

A link to an article is not spam. Nor should it be flagged.
If people don't want to see that in their email on Gather. Than they can true that feature off or hit the delete button.

That's a nasty thing to do. Someone probably got jealous. Don't let it stop you, though!!

I think people who do not want to receive e-mail from others should delete all of their connections so that they can exist in their own little protected world. Gather is all about connectivity, not flagging.

I read it earlier and have no idea why it would be flagged.

I saw the flag when I read your article...the only possible thing it could be was for the word "raped." Somebody is over policing.

It didn't stop me from your reading your article...and now that I know things can be flagged so easily, I will pay those flags less attention!!

Like I have been saying from the beginingm, the flagging Troll is a coward at best.

I got flagged at work cause a news article had the word rape in it. About the economic rape of a country's workers...sweatshop stuff. Ironically, I downloaded it from our own company's Intra-net at the office. It was their article!

I don't think rape is a dirty word. It is a shameful offense, but SHOULD be talked about and should be demystified in an effort to keep it from happening whenever possible.

That's my take on it, and I'm sticking to it!

I saw an article in which an idiotic judge issued an order that the prosecutor could not use the word rape when commenting on the woman who had been sexually assaulted by some low life pervert.

Carol, are you looking for me to go off on another rant...ok so I did on the actual article itself and truth be told I am quite proud of that rant. All kidding asside, this shit just pisses me off to no end. I believe that children are our country's greatest natural resource and our most UNDER funded natural resource; which means that much of the protecting and nurturing must fall to those of us who give a damn.

Prior to reading your article I probably would have reacted the exact same way you did. After reading it however, I now understand that it is not just protecting our children but all children, be watchful and assist. If someone finds that a difficult article to read the nthey need to sell all their belongings and buy an island somewhere b/c this stuff happens way too often and ignoring it or attempting to censor the relay of info is not going to make the problem go away...if anything it creates a more condusive breeding ground for it.

Thank you for hte post and for sharing what must have been one of the most painful and get wrenching experiences you went through as a human being as well as as a parent. Moreover, kudos to not allowing the BS "other" flag to gag you, but to use it as another avenue to get the word out.

And to the flagger: if you live in my neighborhood please move.

I don't personally see anything wrong with it. The world is a scary place, and I think most people know this, but I also think to a lot of people it feels unreal because it's never happened to them or to someone they know.

It's good for people to see personal accounts of stuff like this and not just News reports of people and places they can't associate themselves with.

But......... I think personally just to avoid "upsetting" sensitive people and what not, I'd edit it and put at the very top something like:

Please beware that the following is my personal, real account of a horrific crime and there is mention of the murder of a child. If you feel you may be too upset to read this, please do not.

well i had something fairly innocent get flagged too...it felt kinda vindictive and i just shrugged it off...don't have time for such silliness.

Using the word "rape" and the word "murder" does not render a piece of writing graphic any more than using the word "breast" would make it sexually explicit. Very odd.

I agree. Flaggers are cowards!

If the flagging of this article causes one less person to read it, the flagger should consider themselves reponsible for a serious disservice to society and possibly responsible for someone missing its crucial life-saving message. There should be some way to have flags removed where appropriate. This one should be removed immediately in the interest of saving lives!
