My most discussed "article" was a quasi game:

What a great question! Wish I had an article to share but all I have contributed so far are recipes. I can post the first recipe I shared on Gather:

INCREDIBLE ICE CREAM CAKE!!!

ICE CREAM CAKE
This is great served anytime of the year; birthdays, holidays or just because! Raspberry & lime sherbet are pretty to use at Christmas. Add orange and lemon sherbet for a colorful birthday celebration cake.
1. With ice cream scoop make about 15-18 balls of any flavor ice cream or sherbet that you like, except vanilla.

2. Freeze in single layer until solid, on a cookie sheet or flat pan.

3. Soften 1/2 gallon+ vanilla ice cream. Pour into angel food cake pan to depth of 2 inches.

4. Add ice cream or sherbet balls, alternating flavors, around the circle.

5. Add softened ice cream to cover and add second layer of balls. Fill in and cover with softened ice cream.

6. Freeze at least 24 hours.

7. Here's the tricky part: To serve - cut around edge of pan with hot knife to loosen cake. Hold hot, wet towel on the bottom until the cake swirls in the pan. Then invert over cake plate and lift pan. Good to have a helper here, maybe someone to hold the plate steady while you deal with the pan. Slice as you would a regular cake and serve. De - licious!!!

Most comments? When I shot a blank article. I think the final tally was about 276 comments...on a whole helluva lotta nothing. Love you guys, too! :o)

After that, my Gather Message in a Bottle. I think that one had 242 comments. Something in that range.

Then there was my menopausal rant. 145?

How about Gather: A Safe Haven for Nerds? I think that one was in the 130's.

These numbers could be wrong. I don't care.

Not much really. Lucky to get 10 comments on anything. I just love the pointing and clicking, seeing what's out there.

On the photo front, the most recent Portland Cave photo was the most popular. I posted two, from two different visits in different years. The most recent is is here and the original one from a year earlier is here.

I don't get a lot of comments on my articles, so the big winners are a tie with 20 comments each (and in each case 3 of them are my comments):

Jane, you might want to go through and read the PW article I wrote last week seeking the best and worst of advicel. It was very good. The best advice I'm receiving right now is from Hubby. "Dear, Anderson Cooper's going off. Five a.m. comes awfully early. Shouldn't ou turn that thing off?"

Everyone Has a Twin was my most popular story with 200 comments (give or take twenty or so that disappeared when those members left).

My Breast article went over well, as did Interactive Journalism (which is satire and might be a 'had to be there' experience).

I read every single one of those articles, Sandy, and I'd have missed them if you hadn't pointed them out. I really liked the article titled "My Breast" and I don't know too many women who couldn't relate to it. The first article, the one with the most comments, may not be your best work in your opinion but I certainly feel that it invited lots of debate and comments and reflection on what Gather is all about.

Being a newbie, I don't have historical context on this site that many others do.

My most underestimated article, which is meant to be humorous, was Easy Bake Ovens: Toys 'n Torture

I once asked the simple question of who your favorite author or book was, I'm not sure how many replied, but after many months, I am still getting replies!

I did an article on Pet Peeves that got the most comments
I took my pictures off because my hubby got a little freaked out - they were of my beautiful 5 yr old. Don't do videos.
