Camping was so much fun! When we drove up to the camp there was a rainbow and there were lots of deer in the field! The girls in my car were screeching with excitement! We got all of our stuff unloaded and into the cabins and the girls were still really excited. All except one, the princess.
This was a cabin with no ac and no frills. When you walk it there is a big room with 10 beds, 2 tables, 12 chairs, a fridge, stove, and sink. There was a community bathroom that attached our cabin to the one next to us.
The princess walked in and looked around. I was waiting for her negative opinion and she had this look on her face like she had smelled something rotten. She sat her stuff on her bed and stated "This isn't camping, this is like being in an orphanage!" hahahaha...I couldn't hold back my laughter. Then she asked "Do you think there are bears here?" We were at a camp along the Texas Gulf coast, literally on the water. In fact, my older daughter was there sailing at the same time. (that was sooo cool! To be able to watch her sail! She is in the mariner program!)
We then made our dinner, soup and fruit salad. Everyone ate and then we did a couple of activities before getting ready for bed. At 10:30 they were still wide awake, everyone was hot, and the cabin next to us had teenagers in it. But they finally got to sleep and at 7AM I heard whispering...they were up!
We made breakfast, had some free time, went on a hike, and then did science experiments! We blew up a balloon with vinegar, baking soda, and a 2-liter bottle. We make this weird goop stuff with corn starch, water, and food coloring. We put a cup of water in a baggy and left in the sun to demonstrate the water cycle. We made Jiffy Pop and we had a sleeping bag roll up relay! All kinds of stuff! We even battled a big Texas cockroach that lived in the mop! Then we had a Scouts Own ceremony to close the weekend. It was fantastic!
