My niece's wedding ate almost the entire weekend. On Friday there was the frantic running around and preparing - taking my mom to get her hair cut, and getting everything we wanted to wear ready and so on. Then Saturday, the wedding. It was a two hour trip each way, so there was four hours. And the place we went to - down these winding roads in New Hope on our way to the place. We had to climb up and down a ton of steps for everything at the Cuttalossa Inn where the wedding was held. The place was very pretty - the inn was in a 1830's house, and they had a bar in the ruins of a 1700's mill, with a canopy of trees carefully grown over the top of it. A waterfall on the property was where the wedding was held. A lot of walking though- and the food was terrible! You'd think a place that charges 31-50 dollars a meal for their regular food would do great at a wedding buffet.. but no. Atmosphere was pretty much all they had going for them. We were served undercooked slivers of roast beef, and a dry pasty chicken. Side dishes were undercooked pasta an a few grilled veggies. We were so hungry that we had to stop at McDonalds on the way home. Sad.
Saw some relatives that I haven't seen in ages - they all looked older (and in some cases, balder or fatter) and I imagine I do, too. That's pretty much how it goes. I spoke briefly to a geeky guy from the groom's side named Landis who is going to school for game design, which is nifty. I spent some time watching his social interactions, as I pretty much figured that he was a good model for how Mitch behaved in a social setting. Always thinking of the writing, I know - you can't take us writers anywhere.
I was so tired when we got home that I took a nap, and wasn't much useful for anything afterward. Then today, I was still tired - and kind of congested to boot. I've not quite shaken off the sinus infection yet. So I didn't get anything much done today, either.
And I really do need to do some things tomorrow, so here's hoping I'll feel better. My brother Joe's coming to visit and work on finishing up our bathroom construction for us tomorrow, and he's bringing his dog Lola. Lola's so cute - we first met her when she was a tiny little puppy, not too much bigger than my foot. Now she's huge - as tall as a person when she stands up. I don't know exactly what breeds got together to make her, but she's definitely a mix of a couple of big things.
