Mall hell... GLAD I heard "it's a...

I am so pleased that I gave birth to a baby boy almost 11 years earlier. Even more so now that I took a trip to the mall yesterday. Good gravy! Waaay too long of lines for FITTING rooms for homecoming dresses. I could not believe what I saw and heard!

Back when I was in high school, you got handed a dress from your mom's closet or sister and that was that! Never dreamed of asking parents to purchase one! UGH!

What brought me to the mall yesterday was my own dress. You see, my 20 year reunion is next month and all the dresses are on sale at this department store. So, I tried on like 10 of them until I found a fabulous dress. I just love it! Black with splash of gold print, very classy v-neck. You can guarantee I never dressed this way in high school!

I am glad when my son does get to homecoming all I will have to do is get a suit or tux for him. (And coax him to buy the girl flowers or a corsage!).

We will be fine as long as his clothing and skateboard hobby doesn't break the bank first! Happy Homecoming Everyone!

Kim, it's a nightmare isn't it. I think most girls, at least here in my city, are handed a credit card and keys to the car and sent out to get what they want. I can relate to the borrowed dress, that's how it was for me also. I was lucky that I had a job by the time senior prom came and I could get a dress on sale, off the rack at a department store. Not the local bridal shoppe as so many of my friends could, but at least it was new.

Can't believe a six year old has tastes already!! My niece is not like that yet.

I can't believe also what kids are handed nowadays. I do not "buy" into that mentality of giving your kids "everything." Rather have an independent child who can make his own way!!

Maybe it isn't such a bad thing that my daughter had three sons! I did want that granddaughter though, for the frilly pink dresses and dolls but, this is probably much better!

You certainly don't look old enough for a 20 year reunion. I hope your homecoming is a great one.
I got granddaughters from each of my sons. And they learned to shop early. They had each developed their own style by the end of first grade.
