I just posted three family recipes in conjunction with my First Chapter competition entry Night and Day. I started thinking about how much certain foods affect my mood -- and what wonderful memories certain foods evoke. I can remember eating Chicken Pie with Baking Powder Biscuits on top at Grandma Hansen's house, and Roast Beef after church on Sundays at Grandma Vic's. Baking my dad a cherry pie always brought a smile even when he was exhausted from driving tractor for hours on end. What foods bring back special memories for you?
If you like good food, traditional families, and wonderful stories, please read and vote for Night and Day.
Thanks in advance, Sherrie H

A dish that always takes me back
in time is - - -
Milk Toast.
.
Milk Toast for those who may not know,
is 2 slices of buttered toast stood
at an angle in a cereal bowl with
hot hot milk poured over them.
Then sprinkle some sugar and
sprinkle on some cinnamon.
.
We would have it on those times
when you weren't real hungry for
somthing to eat because we had that
"achy" kind of feeling
or were just feeling blue that day.
.
It fills your tummy with a nice warm feeling
and tastes better than it sounds
when typed out like I've done here.
Chicken & (home made) Noodles
her mashed potatoes were always top notch
chocolate chip cookies
angel food cake
Hot bread pudding with raisins
always makes me think of one
of my neighbors who would make
it just "special for me".
