On September 13, 2007, Back to Basics Products LLC announced a recall of about 10,000 iced tea makers, that were manufactured in China, due to a fire hazzard. The components of the iced tea maker can fail, posing a fire hazzard to consumers.
I wasn't able to provide a photo of the recalled iced tea maker, however it is mostly white in color and it has a 2.5 quart glass pitcher. The model number of the iced tea maker is IT400. The model number can be found on the bottom of the unit.
This recall only includes iced tea makers with a date code of CA1307 or CA1307-A. The date code is also on the bottom of the iced tea maker and it is printed on a small white sticker.
The recalled iced tea makers were sold Bon-Bon department stores and hardware stores nationwide, the J.C. Penny catalogas well as various Internet retailers. The recalled units were sold from April 2007 through July 2007. The units sold for between $40.00 and $50.00.
If you believe that you may have purchased one of the recalled iced tea makers, you may log on to www.recalls.gov for more information.

Carol..thanks .
Garden, I thought I read somewhere that sun tea is no longer a good idea due to possible bacterial growth - amount of time vessel stays in the sun longer than if boiling water is used.
Thanks Tim.
Kinda makes you wonder how buying a $50 electric iced tea making machine has anything to do with getting "back to basics", doesn't it?
Good article, Tim. I wonder if the problem with the wiring was a design fault or a manufacturing fault? Either way, I wish these companies would put a little more effort into making products that are actually safe.
Ghostly Ghoul..thanks for stopping by !
It's easy to create group, almost as easy as writing an article. With all of your connections, I'm sure it would be a success. Look at all the support you get with these articles.
I hope you think about it a little more.
