Do you know of a safe pet food?

ask your vet cause I think all the food in the grocery have by-prodcuct

When the recall was going on I was happy to find out Trader Joe's independently tested all their food. My cats Merlin and Coco love their Holistic feline formula and their canned food.

I would think after the recalls that most of them would be careful now.

sorry can't help you mine get pedigree but your vet would be a good one to ask not sure but maybe science diet as they prescribe that a lot

My husband buys the food for our cat, all I know is it is dry and she loves it so much she bit a whole in the bag to get at the food once. We put down two water dishes for her to make sure she drinks enough water. When anything is empty she will come get us and meow until we follow her and fill it. She is the best cat in the world, she doesn't climb on counters or eat anything other than her own food. It is possible she can't smell. She had been hurt as one eye is blind. Her owner died and she was abandoned. Someone was feeding her and other stay cats. When she leaped back into my daughters arms from another girl, we knew she was the right cat for us!

I really can't help you but I wanted to stop by. It was real scary there for awhile and we had talked about making our own food for our animals.

Our vet says you can always feed your cat regular food if you are careful to make sure you follow your vet's instructions. You can't feed them just any food but it has to be properly balanced and the right kind so it does not overtax the animal's kidneys and has the right proportion of various nutrients. It is a pain to do but this way you can avoid by products, depending on what you use.

We have a Shi Tzu that is 13 going on 3. I buy a London Broil, cook it med. rare and cut it into small pieces (Small bite size)pack it in meal size bags and freeze it. 20 sec's in the micro and walla! We give her small pieces of vita snack sticks for her treats. She is as healthy as a three year old and only goes to the vet for her shots. Of course every time the vet asks what we feed her because she is so healthy. Then he commences to back track and tell us that she wont live five years like that. Well we've been hearing that for thirteen years now and she looks to maybe go thirteen more.

My cats love Purina One

My dog would love London Broil as treats I will have to try this. Is it good for cats? I know my one would eat it if offered because she always goes looking through the garbage when we have meat. My Belle though is really picky and only eats what she wants. The only people food she likes is bread, cheese, and lunchmeat and she only takes nibbles. My other cat and dog would eat any people food offered.

Most vets were not trained as nutritionists. Many have no idea about good foods for pets. I did a lot of research on food when one of our cats was diagnosed with kidney disease and refused to eat what the vet recommended for her. I feed our cats Wellness grainfree, PetGuard venison and rice and chicken and wheat germ; they also get Natural Balance in various flavors. They used to eat Merrick, but some of them don't like the big pieces and I tired of mashing it for them.

Our cats are health and gobble their food, enjoying it enormously. We only feed canned food and only at mealtimes. This keeps them slim and fit.
