Today is my son's FAKE Birthday!

Yup. You read right. His FAKE birthday. Those are his words! lol. Whenever we have a birthday party that is not on the person's birthday, he calls it their fake birthday, which it is but it sounds funny when you say "Happy Fake Birthday!" to someone.  So he is very excited that today is HIS fake birthday.  His birthday is on Tuesday but my grandparents are going out of town this week and my dad works so it makes it easier to have the party today so that everyone can come.

He'll be 6. I can't believe it.  My middle red haired baby will be 6 years old come Tuesday. He was the most precious little baby ever. He's still cute but I miss holding him when he was little.  My kids try to say they're not my baby but I have to tell them that Umm...sorry...you'll always be my baby even when you're 50.

I'll still do a little something for him on his real birthday but today we are going to party hardy on his FAKE birthday!  I just baked the cake and I need to decorate it after it cools off.

Do you have FAKE birthdays or do you only celebrate on the real day?

My friends and I used to do birthday weekends, which meant that whoever was having their birthday nearest to a given weekend would get to decide on the activities for that weekend--usually just what we were drinking in their honor. So in that way, we were basically celebrating fake birthdays, at least when their real birthday didn't fall on the weekend.

I think it's in the old Alice in Wonderland cartoon that they sing "A Very Merry Un-Birthday to You." I suspect your son might like that song. I wish I knew for sure if that's where it's from, though!

He is a cute little guy. I have a 7 year old and I know what you mean. I miss the snuggling little guy. I tell mine the same thing - you WILL ALWAYS be Mommy's baby!!!! Like it or NOT...

we usually celebrate the weekend before or after. Its easier for everyone to show up that way.

We have fake birthdays for my youngest. His B-day is three days after Christmas, so parties just don't happen often. He will be ten this year and will have his third birthday party ever.

We usually have fake birthdays if their real birthdays don't land on a weekend. We still do a small family celebration on the real date.

my daughter has a fake birthday every year. she is born 4 days after Christmas and that just makes it no fun so we have her birthday in November with the other two that were born 3 years and one day apart

Kids are so funny! My children will say this is not my real birthday and I have to explain why we are celebrating on that particular day etc. Happy almost Birthday to your son!

We don't have kids so we are usually able to celebrate on the real day. My mom and I were born on the same day which is nice. We make it a point to always be together on our birthdays.

For our two kids so far we've only had parties and things on their actual birthdays. However, since my sister and I both live far way from our parents (especially me!) they have fake birthdays for us. Mine was in like June or something like that this year. They came down and brought me presents and I got to pick out a cake and ice cream. It was fun. It actually felt like it was my special day. I guess it was!

I feel whatever day you celebrate a birthday, whether it is the day they were borned or not, makes it special. More power to you Shannon, have fun with it. I have had to celebrate birthdays both ways, depends what day their birthday falls on I guess.

HAPPY "FAKE" Birthday!! My youngest grandson will be 7 in Novemeber. Time sure does fly. Yes, we usually celebrate on the weekend closest to the actual date. I too do some little something on the actual day if we did not actual celebrate on the day. It just seems easier for all concerned if we do it on a Saturday or Sunday. Cute young man. My other grandson just turned 8 a month ago. I still get to hold them in my lap, but I know what you mean it's not the same as when they were babies. THEY don't like for anyone to see them sitting in their MeMaw's lap! They are growing up too too fast!

Great idea, A FAKE BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION! I still think we all should be treated like royalty on our birthday and everyone should be nice to us so I hope your son got two chances for everyone to treat him RIGHT! Happy real and fake birthdays!

lol that is too cute.. my son turned 4 this year and he's finally old enough to associate his birthday with having a party and getting gifts so he keeps asking if it's his birthday again. We've told him that he has to wait for grandma and grandpa and daddy and Luke and mommy to have their birthday before he gets another one and it's actually helped him understand the months a little better. Except he thinks everyone is turning 5 ;)

So cute! I have fake birthdays too. My last one was way better than my real one, I got a cat on my fake birthday, and nobody showed up at my real one.
