Don't do. Ideally, kids should still have two parents. Although I'm not big on the whole marriage ceremony thing.... a committed relationship with/without benefit of clergy works.
Personal opinion, a loving family is always best for bringing up a child. However, IF a child is conceived prior to marriage, I personally believe that it is better to birth said baby and give him or her to loving adoptive parents. I've benefited from this in that my husband was adopted. Also, my niece went through the gut wrenching decision process and in the end decided to keep her child. The family is ralleying around her and helping with the child raising process. So to or not to? Depends on so many circumstances it's hard to put a definitive answer to the question.
My oldest son was out of wed lock and his father turned his back . I was only 16 and he turned out very well. Has a fine home and a great career, wonderful family, his wife can stay at home with the kids. You guessed it, he's father shows an interest now! He still refers to William as his father and he's the one he takes to Seahawk games.
This is a tough one...as someone who was never blessed with children, I'm envious of anyone who can get pregnant...so maybe I'm not the best person to ask.
I have taught self-esteem classes for high school girls to try to combat rampant pregnancy rates in our town....I think I got more out of being with those young ladies for three months, than they got out of my classes. And of my class of around 20 girls, only one got pregant during the sessions. I guess those are pretty good odds. I love that many of them went on to college!
Morally speaking it's a don't. I think since we all have to live with the decisions that we make everyday that you should only do what you are comfortable with. I was born in the 50's and so I feel that getting married, and then having a child is the right thing to do. I always felt it made it easier on everybody all around if kept in the right order, but then I also know that you can make it just fine even without going through the right order. You just have to be comfortable with your decision because it's your life. Good question.
