Alarm Clock Battery

Yesterday evening I fed my baby Kyleigh at 9:45 PM, but when I looked up at the alarm clock on my bed, I was surprised to find out that it showed 6:50 PM. So I realized the battery in my alarm clock had died. I was really glad it happened on a weekend. If it had happened over night on a weekday, then my husband would have been late to work the next morning, and that would be a very bad thing.

This got me thinking. I never knew when the battery in the alarm clock would die. My alarm clock is completely operated on batteries and does not have the option to use a wall plug. So I had been late a couple of times in the past due to dead batteries.

Wouldn't it be nice if there could be a low battery warning on this thing?

I remember there used to be little indicators on the battery packs when you would buy them, but I don't think I've even seen them around anymore!

Well you now know how long these batteries worked. Perhaps a marker with the date and a piece of tape on the bottom of the clock would give you a clue of when the next break down is due. Just a thought.

I would get a clock with a plug as back up for the battery one..

I have an old cell phone that I kept because I like the alarm it has. So I used to set my regular alarm clock and also set my cell phone in case the power went out. But now my daughter is my alarm clock as I get up when she does.

I bought a neat Jensen clock radio once, but now sort of regret it, because it doesn't have a backup battery -- plus it's really tricky to set the stations. Guess I'll stick with Sony and Panasonic from now on. My cousin Linda's husband Howard always gets the atomic clocks, that are self-setting, especially for gifts. I've heard the Japanese have actually invented a battery that runs on urine or (preferably) other liquids. I'm sure there's some kind of radio out there that would suit your needs -- have you tried C. Crane? They have a nifty little catalog and lots of high-tech products. Thanks for posting this!
