It is a terrifically hard thing to lose a beloved friend. Life does go on though, and we both felt that it was important for Spike to have a younger and more playful dog in his life. When Buddy died he went through a period of mourning but had started to emerge from it recently. We decided to visit the local animal shelter just to see if there were any likely candidates. On our second trip we met Sadie.

She came home with us today and has managed to fit right into the pack. Rusty liked her right away as she showed the appropriate degree of respect. Spike was uncertain but by this evening they were playing together in the yard. Sadie has shown that she believes cats are nothing to get excited about which is important in this house. She is currently curled up next to me and Spike is under my chair. I think they will become fast friends.

And I think we're the lucky ones here - she has fit in as if she has always been here - really amazing actually.
And Bob - Tuck sure did find his own little bit of heaven with you.
Love and blessings - S.
I heard a person make the harshly thoughtless remark, "Guess they forgot all about the dog they just lost." You could not get further from the truth. In every case I have ever known, including my own, a new animal in the home brings its own little miracle. The miracle is that you can now remember your lost animal friend with a sense of wholeness, a sense of completeness. Rather than forgeting your loss, you have the freedom to remember your beloved animal with greater love, greater memory, and less pain. I thinik this must be God's math.
Sadie looks happy and healthy. I think she is exactly what we all have been looking for. And now I feel that your home is again complete.
I'm glad you made the room in your homes and your heart for another.
"cats are nothing to get excited about " lolol only way for a dog to be happy in this world is to recognise this and live accordingly i reckon!
And one of hers left to go back to her son, out of state. Down to six...
But Maddie Mae picked me out a recently at the kill shelter.
Oh God, I'm gonna cry.
Love you and blessings
Rose - Sadie's story is slowly emerging - her behaviour is showing us that she does not have the most pleasant past but there is nothing there that won't be made better with time and lots of love.
Thanks all for the wonderful welcome to Sadie. She is a sweet girl and has already become a cherished member of the family.
Hey, guess what! My wife found out that the dog I tried to get at the pound, and was not ready yet, is still available! Goin' to get 'Gunner' this afternoon.
There always is room for one more, after all.
Smiles and hugs.
