I can't believe the amount of recalls on the list now. I swear I have to take all my kids toys away. I found a great site that has an updated list in an easy to read format. So check this site and see if your toys are on it.

I can only imagine the holiday shopping. Not knowing what is safe. How do we protect children if companies keep allowing this to happen.

Pretty soon all toys will come with a warning label to the effect that in the instance of a recall the company will not be held liable or something... We should just go back to sending them outside to play with sticks and stones... Perhaps that would be safer...

I agree with BF. Playing outside with sticks and stones may not only be safer, maybe it will help with all the health issues children nowadays seem to have. Hmmm....

Maybe we should just give the kids a cardboard box to play with. They really enjoy a good box more than the actual toy. Unless of course there is lettering on the box that contains lead.

Thanks! I know that my best friend and I plan on either making everything we give this year or we will make sure the items say "MADE IN AMERICA".
I don't really care about the toy recalls. I think parents over indulge their children with too many possessions as it is.

De M. Wow that's a little harsh isn't it. I mean they are using Lead based paint which they KNOW is wrong. Even One or two toys with the lead paint could cause harm.

De M - but you clicked, read and commented anyways? And I'd rather spoil my child than be one of those kids who's parents don't care enough to get them anything. Not even a book. Toys are a way a child learns so I'll continue on with the toys. Important thing is the child hears the word no from time to time.

My kid does spend a lot of time outside - i guess the thing I hate is they are recalling nontoys as well. Bibs got recalled, how are we supposed to know everything? So items we can't avoid if we try, the notebook. It seemed innocent enough, right? Just said.

Have you ever noticed how many things are made in china? There is a great group on gather Made In America where they hightlight american made goods.

The newer ones are at the top of the list and this is for all reasons, not just the lead paint....

most all the things I saw on their were the popular kids name brands...barbie...polly pocket...dora....sesame street! We have the boat with elmo & ernie & dang I hope there is no lead problems! My boy chews on those...as does my girl!

It is very sad that they allowed SO many unsafe toys into our country. Maybe it is time to stop importing from China!

Buy American for the holidays. I also suggest buying early thi syear if you can. That way if there is any recalls. You can catch them before the toys go in your kids hands.
