Morning air was heavy on my body,
Pressing, Pressing Pain;
I could feel the impending rain.
The sun hid behind gray yesterday,
And gave in early to the night,
No stars, no light.
With the anger of the heavens
I fought, not wanting to give in;
Storm without, storm within.
You have always kept me anchored,
Known when to let my darkness be,
Known when to reach for me,
Passionate, compassionate,
Your tempest, and your peace,
Struggles, and release.
Now the heaviness is lifted,
The rain is gentle, like you,
Watering, making new,
You could see weakness and turn,
No. Those healing hands,
Softly comfort, understand.
Gentle taps at the window,
Like our pulses, slowing,
I end the day knowing,
I am a fortunate one.
You are truly My Love.
My heart breaks for those who have known this comfort and lost it. I fear losing him. He has C.O.P.D., emphysema, and other health problems. Elsie, if you are reading this, I think of you everyday. I hope you keep him in your prayers.
Only a few more days left in the first round . . . I would like to ask you a favor. I have entered the First Chapters Romance Contest and would appreciate your consideration. Only votes of ten are counted in the final tally. If you read it and like it, I would appreciate your 10 rating. If you are inclined to leave comments, then know that I encourage and I covet your honest praise and critique. If you prefer to email any negative critique to save my sensitive ego, I still would like your input. This is my first novel, and, as you’ll see in my comments, I have already taken much advice to heart. I cannot make corrections during the voting period. Thank you for taking a peek. These two lines especially:
"Known when to let my darkness be,
Known when to reach for me,"
Very nicely done.
