The following sentence is from an actual newspaper column. I swear it! I changed the street and city names to protect the innocent.
"Although the Main St. home was almost across the street from the Smalltown Fire Departement, the house ws too far involved in flames when the first truck arrived to be saved."
Okay, we see the problems here. If you don't, I'll re-phrase it (correctly) below:
"Despite its being near the fire department, the home on Main Street was engulfed in flames, and could not be saved."
The error-filled sentence above was written by a journalist. Sad, sad, sad. However, we will enjoy the fun phrases below.
