Tonight I am taking 12 7-year-olds camping! Yes, I am pretty sure I had a moment of insanity when I volunteered to be a Girl Scout Leader but I am loving it! My 2 step-daughters really wanted to join Girl Scouts and there wasn't a troop available so I stepped up, got 8 other girls and made a troop of our own! This is my second year being a leader and I am feeling more confident and pleased with my progress. I have a mild anxiety disorder so this is really fantastic for me!
My girls are really good kids and anxious to learn and try new things. Tonight we will be staying in a dorm type cabin with a kitchen and a bathroom, so it isn't REALLY camping...but there is no A/C! I will be showing them how to tie knots and we will be earning 3 try-it patches, all about science! Plus they will be making soup from scratch!
My oldest daughter is also a Girl Scout but she is in a different troop. She has been with the same troop for 6 years and it has been really neat watching each of these girls go from shy little first graders to outgowing young ladies, in middle school! When I look at my troop I am so excited to see them grow up together!
I just wanted to share that and see if there are any other Girl Scout moms on here. Any ideas on swaps?? I want to make some for our next camp-out this spring!

Shrinky dinks are always really fun swaps--you can even pre-print the shrinky dink stuff with a design, and have the girls color it in, and then shrink them down. And anything stuck to a little pom-pom is always fun. :)
