Against my better judgment I watched the President's speech tonight. As I expected there was nothing new. No clear plan for success. No path to victory. No definition of victory. He did say we are now committed to staying there almost forever and tried to tie this war into 9/11 (as expected). We were spared the customary smarmy grin which I am sure he thinks conveys sincerity. I had so much sunshine blown up my ass I feel like the Goodyear blimp.

When you are being attacked and decide to pull back you just do NOT let different groups or companys of men leave and expect the others to hold. Then later another Company gets to leave, And later another. You still have the same enemy attack. That is leaving all of the men to die once your strength gets low enough so the enemy troops can overrun you.
Ron Paul has the best plan, and some others - WE WALKED IN WE CAN WALK OUT. Move all of our troops out at the same time. Let Iraq solve their own problems.
And how about Tony Snow (job) scolding us for not giving our service members credit for the great job they're doing and just criticizing what's going on over there. That's so Bush: criticism = not supporting the troops.
It's all just a big game for the likes of Mr. Bush and his cohorts. After all, they don't care how many people die over there, ours or theirs. It's not them and it's not anyone they know or care about.
Most military experts I've seen on television, and a lot of those are loyal Bushies, are expressing doubt that there can ever be a stable secure Iraq after the mess we've made of the occupation. The mistakes made over there fill books. What is so sad is that Mr. Bush just keeps going ahead repeating his mistakes as if somehow things will change and the same failed policies will miraculously succeed this time. I'm not sure at this point that anything can get through the wall of delusion and omnipotence with which he's surrounded himself. He sees only what he wants to see.
