He's driving me nuts!

I got a new kitty almost two weeks ago. I really love him alot but now I am going on not a lot of sleep. WHy? Well he won't stop kissing me....he comes and kisses me when I get up to go to the bathroom and won't stop. I don't know what to do. I know he loves me and all but I can't sleep! I tried hiding under the blankets but he would just poke at the blanket with his head until I would let him at me....I know it sounds crazy but I am soooo tired!!!

We had to keep our kitten out of the bedroom. In fact, at first, we put our baby in a dog crate at night. It will get better. Good luck
Sounds like he is missing his momma.
He probably wants to suck on something.....ours has been sucking on a blanket, he is probably 10 weeks old or so.

Put a little kitty crate by the bed. That way he can watch you sleep and still be kept away from you.

He might truly be very lonely. Play a lot just before you go to bed, so the kitty is tired too. Also, get things for the kitty to do like little balls, a cat gym or something like that.

You can also block him out of the bedroom comepletely.

You can never tell how anyone will read something, so I don't want to be known on Gather as the person who put her baby in a dog crate!! :-) I felt guilty enough doing it to the dogs and the cat! :-) (Although once in a while, my 11 year old gets in the big dog crate with his dog!)

Awwww...we had a kitty who did this as well (she has sadly passed on :( )...we eventually had to lock her out of the bedroom as well because my husband would wake up to her licking his armpits in the middle of the night. It was funny, but we were exhausted.

When I had cats, my bedroom was the one place in the apartment that they weren't allowed. I just had too much stuff that they could get into, and I was mostly concerned with them getting stuck in the closet (which was hard to open from the outside, let alone from the inside, especially if you were a cat) or knocking down something that would make a huge noise. Our roommate would let them into her bedroom, but she would occasionally kick them out when she really wanted to sleep soundly.

You may feel bad about kicking the kitty out at first, but you need sleep. The kitty may not understand this, but she will adjust.

I don't sleep in the bedroom...I sleep on the couch...which makes it hard to close the door. I may have to try some of the crate ideas and put my baby...I mean kitten in it...hee hee

One of my cats used to lick my eyelids when she wanted me to wake up. Fortunately, she usually waited until morning, even if it was still ridiculously early! I agree with Sara's idea of putting a small crate next to the bed so the kitten is still right there with you and not alone somewhere in another room.

We never had much luck with locking our cats out of the bedroom -- they would just sit outside the door and howl for hours on end. The crate idea might be a good solution though. Our youngest cat, William, loved to snuggle up against my or my DH's neck and suck on our shoulder, something he wanted to do constantly as a kitten, even at night. He outgrew it though so everyone sleeps much better now. Although he still "snurgles" (as we call it) each evening for 5-10 minutes while we're watching the news. That seems to be enough to make him content now :-)

Ours is four months old and still has to be very close to us at night. They love to kiss for some reason and he still sucks on the blanket, like when they nurse with the paws going and all.

I love dogs....I'm not really a cat person...we just can't have dogs in our building. What do I like most about cats?? That they can be really loyal to you if you are lucky!

I know the feeling. I have one cat I bring to bed with me and it takes me awhile to get to sleep because he is rubbing against my face. But eventually he settles down and goes to sleep.

Now you know why people put the cat out at night. :) He is probably to young for that but you can limit is area at night. I use to put them in the bath tub (no water) to keep them out of trouble.
