Where do you find faeries?

Or unicorns, or dragons?

I'm a writer. I write humor, but I my study of faeries and Otherworld beings is serious.

So where are all these beings? My friend in Ireland has a faery ring in her pasture. How cool is that?

We have a tree in the back yard that changes shape depending on the angle from which you view it. Is it a matter of geometry, or does a wood nymph live there? Our cat thinks something lives there. It's the only tree she won't climb.

So how do faeries, goblins, selkies, dragons, and unicorns fit into your life?

My Italian grandmother claimed that faeries live in trees in the forest.

One thing I was careful about in Faery Special Romances was to keep the mythology generic. My faeries aren't Celtic or Nordic or anything else--they all came from my imagination. That's the cool thing--we can go as far as we want to, whether we stick with Tinkerbell, or visit the house of the Unsidhe.

When I was a child, I believed in them because an adult I adored told me they existed, but I never actually saw them though she said one day she would show them to me...

Absolutely fascinating story about your tree. Perhaps there are some fae folk hiding amongst it's branches.

I actually have a couple pagan themed books about faeries and dragons. One is Dancing With Dragons. The other A Witch's Guide To Faerie Folk. The faerie one has a dictionary in the back of hundreds of faerie types. A really neat reference book.
