I got tagged three times. Does that mean I can tag 15 people instead of 5? LOL. I'll be nice and just ask for volunteers. And since I got tagged three times, I will try to give three examples whenever I can or at least go into depth on my answers.
1. What is your greatest regret?
I am pretty happy where I am at now and I have gotten past most of my regrets. But I do have one regret that will haunt me probably for some time. It was during the time when my dog got out of the house and ended up getting killed by a car. I made some bad choices involving the search and I wish I was more aggressive when it came to dealing with the law agencies.
Another regret I have is not finishing nursing school. I had a 92 average and I just dropped out. But I did go on to be a nurses aide and an EMT for my local ambulance service. I eventually quit those too. I decided that it was not what I wanted to do with my life.
2. Do you believe in the existence of souls mates and/or true love?
There was a time when I didn't believe in either one. I thought I was destined to be alone for the rest of my life. Then about 8 years ago, I found my soulmate. He means the world to me. We get along very well and we never fight. I don't know how he puts up with me. LOL.
I'd like to tell you a little story about something that happened when we first got together. I lived in an apartment complex and he was one of the maintenence men. Nobody knew that we were an item or at least I didn't think so. There was this little old lady who lived quite a ways down from me but I could see her apartment from my front door. Her name was Bea and she was the sweetest lady I had ever met. One day she fell very ill and ended up in the nursing home. We went to visit her and we were told that she probably wouldn't know we were there. She was pretty much out of it. I stood on one side of the bed and Tom stood on the other side. She grabbed my hand and then grabbed Tom's too. She put our hands on top of each other along with hers. I can't explain the feeling but at that moment I knew that Tom and I would always be together.
3. What do you believe makes a successful life?
Like I said before, I am happy with where I am in life. I have a wonderful boyfriend, a loving son and two beautiful grandsons. I appreciate what I have and to me that makes for a successful life. I have struggled through a good part of my life and I believe that it made me stronger. I somehow managed to make it through all the crisis situation that popped up and to me thats a successful life.
4. Who is the person you despise the most and why?
I try to get along with everyone. But there is one person in my life that I can honestly say I despise. He is my son's father. He abused me physically, sexually and mentally. I got out of that situation when my son was two. After giving birth to him I was able to fight back more. I guess it was the momma lion in me. I had to give the jerk visitation even though I didn't want to. I found out that he sexually molested my son. I could have forgiven him for what he did to me but never for what he did to my son.
5. Are you a better leader or follower?
I can do both but I prefer to be a follower. I have some self confidence issues that make it difficult for me to lead. I tend to think that I cannot do it but I probably could. I am much better at being told what to do. My boyfriend might not agree with that. LOL
6. Do you tend to argue with people or avoid conflict?
I have to bite my tongue alot. I try to avoid conflict at all costs. I grew up with lots of arguements and I decided I didn't want them in my life. And after living with that jerk, I learned that fighting had no purpose for me. But if I feel my family is threatened in some way, I will defend them if need be but only as a last resort.
7. What is your greatest fear.
I have many fears. I fear that I am going to be tagged again.LOL. Just kidding. My biggest fear is that something bad will happen to the special people and animals in my life. I think most people will agree with that one.
I also fear that something bad will happen to me and my loved ones won't be able to cope with it. I want to see my grandchildren grow up and there is always that chance that it might not happen. There is no guarentees in life and that sometimes scares me.
And on the funny side, I am terrified of bees, thunderstorms and the dark. LOL. Yes, I am a big baby.
8. What makes you laugh?
My boyfriend makes me laugh most of the time. He likes to do voice impressions and he picks the best time to do them. Some of his voices include Cheech from Cheech and Chong, Slimmer from the Ghostbusters and an Englishman.
My grandsons also make me laugh. They are just so darn cute and they do the funniest things. Some of the darndest things come out of the three year olds mouth. He went shopping with his mom and he wanted to buy something with his own money. he did that then he said to the cashier, " Change please" and he held out his hand.
I also like a few comedians. I don't really like too many of the new ones. Some of my favorites are Larry the cable guy, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, and Howie Mandel.
9. What are your pet peeves?
I could go on and on with this one. LOL. I get so mad when the men in my house leave their garbage laying around especially when the trash can isn't that far away. I also don't like dirty dishes not taken out to the sink and that includes empty pop bottles too. Oh and this one really irritates me, when they leave empty containers either in the cupboard or the fridge.
Outside of my house, I get really annoyed with people who think they are better than everyone else and people who say, "Oh my kid wouldn't do that"
10. What's the most adventurous thing you've done or would do?
I'm not really the adventurous type. I like to be in a calm, controlled atmosphere. But I would consider working for my local ambulance service to be very adventurous. Peoples lives are in your hands. You can be the difference between life or death.
One day we had a call for someone who got shot while cleaning their gun. Standard procedure is to wait for the police to make sure the scene is safe. You never know what you will find inside. Well, Brenda jumps out of the ambulance and heads to the front door. I knew someone inside needed my help and I didn't consider my own safety. The cop just about dove on me, and he starts yelling "You can't go in there yet" He was right and I was in the wrong. Another call that wasn't dangerous but very traumatic involved a two month old baby that had been thrown against a chair. I was one of the very few people in my ambulance service who have had to do CPR on an infant. Its not a great title to have. The baby did not make it. I'm pretty sure that was what ended my interest in the medical field.
Well, thanks for reading. I hope I didn't bore you to death. LOL. And remember I am asking for volunteers to be tagged. Just post a link to your article here and I promise to read it and comment.
