Folks, something is wrong and it seems to be getting a whole lot worse. The two stories I reported on last week; the torture & death of a puppy and the police dog left to cook alive in a patrol car in Phoenix, have just been overshadowed by this evening news coming out of Corsicana, Texas: http://enews.earthlink.net/article/nat?guid=20070912/46e76440_3ca6_15526200709121572039146 Authorities have just found a six-year old girl sexually assaulted and hung by her neck in a garage. Six years old. They need to catch the guy who did this and do it quickly! Vegeance is supposed to be left to the Lord but some people just do not deserve another breath. There's not many details yet as this story is just breaking. As in breaking my heart. Six years old, I can't get that out of my head.

Discipline yourselves, keep alert. Like a roaring lion your adversary the devil prowls around, looking for someone to devour. Resist him , steadfast in your faith, for you know that your brothers and sisters in all the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering. And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, support, strengthen, and establish you.
I was a cop for way too many years...the stories of just such as this have been going on just not shown on national news before...I can't describe the horrors I've seen that people have done to each other and to children...I was friends with a detective who handled child abuse and she showed me photos you would never want to see and those mostly were done by the parents not strangers...it tore my heart out...other things I just want to forget the memories of but can't...
My heart goes out the her family and my prayers...
In the 70s a mother in Lewiston put both her children in the oven. Incredible.

As horrible as this crime is, we must continue to trust God. One thing I do know is this little six year old is right now with Jesus.

Of course, we feel for those innocents who suffer when we hear of them, but we can quickly drown in their suffering if we let ourselves, and it will not heal them one little bit.
Say a prayer for her and move on with your life. You cannot do more for her than that.
No, you can't help her individual pain.
But, while you 'move on with your life' why not treat the people along the way with just a little more kindness, a little more love - each day.
