In my opinion, it's no contest. Gather crushes Myspace. Myspace seems like it is just a contest to see how many "friends" you can get and you constantly get bombarded with friend requests from spammers, which I hate. Gather is definately the better place to network and get your writing out there, trade tech tips, share stories, and get feedback on what you've written. Oh yeah.....the perks or prizes are an added bonus! Any thoughts?

However, Gather is by far more readily made for a "mature" crowd. Well, most of us- minus the flaggots and DB1's.
If Gather had a music section in the same way that MySpace does, I would probably completely give up checking my MySpace. :)
That said, I very seldom use Myspace except to talk with a few friends in particular who enjoy it, and I have only been on Gather since Sunday evening but have probably used it more in those few days than I've used Myspace in the last few months.
Still, they feel like very different programs. Myspace feels like a means of communication and a single-page burst of expression, where as Gather feels a good deal more involved, offering people far more opportunies to express themselves and to generate actual discussion.
