Ahh....but the generals don't agree...the only ones who are saying "keep fighting and will give you a tidbit of relief" are the same ones that owe their promoted position to shrub...and the spin--oh the spin could make you dizzy!! All of a sudden the benchmarks aren' benchmarks...oh, and the congress just made them up!!! NO--PREZ SHRUB--the one who can't tell the difference between Iraqui's(oil) and Saudi's(9/11 hijackers) PREZ Shrub's company made up the benchmarks(along with the Iraqui gov't.).
The non-partisan report was released --last week? That said we needed to get out of this occupation and it had the numbers to prove it. Petreaus and his group don't count all the killings! No wonder it looks better!

I have been dissatisfied with Reid for some time.

The Dems were not expecting Petraeus to say what he said. Their entire platform is invested in failure in Iraq and anything that contradicts it is a "lie" and anyone who contradicts them is a traitor and a Bush yes man. Pathetic. The Dems got what they wanted when Bush decided to listen to the Generals. They said that the war should be left to those who know how to fight it. And now, they think the Generals dont know anything because it does not agree with their views. God, what have they come to.

Remember Reid Voted to confirm Petraeus. In fact he was confirmed with unanimous vote.

Remember, truth does not matter to a politician, except when it agrees with their preconceived notion. And Reed is so far out of touch with the real world, his notions are outside of left field.

It must be so easy to go through life reducing things down to such simplistic absurdities. I guess conservatives really can't handle complexity, at least not you.

How can you post such things, MD? Really, if you want to approach an issue and get comments, no matter what your stance is on it, why not put some thought into what you are writing and stop reducing things down so much that they end up basically bogus and, quite honestly, ridiculous.

I am not disagreeing with anything, because you have said nothing of substance to disagree with. I am not arguing anything, because what you have said is brought down to such a ludicrously simplistic level, it has lost all of its meaning. I am stating the obvious - that you have not presented anything discernable here. You are trying to make some kind of statement, I think, comparing a past situation to a present situation, no?

This is how I read it - an analogy, if you will:
"In the past, X insisted that something be so because the sky is blue; now, X insists that something be different, but the sky is still blue."
There is no connection in your argument - it is brought down to the ludicrous - there is nothing to agree or disagree with - there is no basis for an argument.

This is not so complicated to me. We have long ago "lost" this extended engagement. Grownups know when they are "done" and we are done. "There are none so blind as those who will not see."

All I hear from the left is we're defeated, its a mess, we need a new direction. There' s only one option and that is fixing the problem. Let the General have some time to do the job. I would almost bet if the dems had of been 100% behind Iraq if would have been over years ago. United We Stand!

It's interesting to see how people pounce on war pros and cons without really asking how the Iraqi's feel about things. Is anyone aware of the poll taken by three news agencies from three different countries inside Iraq asking the people how they feel the surge is going? It seems they are not as keen on us being there as we are on being there. Maybe we should let democracy work in Iraq and let the people vote on us staying or going. Let them decide if we should pull out all at once or gradually and let them decide how we can best help them rebuild their country. Maybe all they need is some heavy equipment, cash and a lack of American contractors to rebuild their infrastructure. Unless we let them decide their future we are in some ways no different than Saddam in that we are still dictating to them how they run their country. Just one thought.
