I feel like a won a battle today !!!

I've been trying since May to get my mom's health insurance straightened out. Every person I talked to had a different story. I wanted to take her to the Dr. in May and that's when the nightmare started. Long story short, they dropped her from her Primary Dr and shuffled her off to another without her consent. she got three different cards sent to her, all with different "groups" on them. Finally today after hours and hours on hold and many hours talking (to people who were not listening) it finally got resolved and she got her chest x-ray today!!!!!! YEA I'm so happy, I just hope it lasts and they don't decide to automaticly change her again. It's so exhausting dealing with insurance companys.

You DID win a battle. Dealing with insurance companies takes up lots of my time and I don't even work for one. I'm just a person in a raccoon costume.

I won't bore you with my own insurance woes. They are woes aplenty though. Congrats on getting yours straightened out. I'm still working on mine. What really concerns me are elderly persons who don't have anyone looking out for them. So often they get taken by insurance companies and no one stands up for them. I'm glad you are there for your mom.

that's exactly what I was saying to everyone I talked with, "What if my mom had to do this alone?" She's hard of hearing and doesn't do "phone" very well , yeah it worries me, how she would have probably just given up and not done anything. I am sure lots of elderly are in the same boat!

I am so sorry to hear of this Nancy. The only thing worse than dealing with insurance companies is not having any insurance at all.

I want to suggest a way to speak to the insurance company. Start with, "Please help me" Sound earnest, as opposed to sure you are right. I find they begin to listen when I ask for their help.

Great suggestion. Nancy, I am in the same boat as you, trying to help a parent who can't do it alone due to age, hearing loss and other physical struggles. It can be frustrating, I know and after hours and days of trying to get people to listen, you can feel so good when you finally reach your goal :)

YEP!! I felt like doing the conga dance all the down the hall to x-ray, we had been there 3 times during the summer and turned away each time. This time I had proof in my hand, they had to take her !!
We made it kind of funny by saying "WE'RE BAAAAACK" and nursing staff smiled , I'm not sure they got the reference but I was so excited that we were able to get it all done that I was a little giddy.
I'm glad you now have it straightened out, I hope it stays that way!

try working for a doctor and calling the insurance company regarding a patient!

It was actually the drs staff that helped me get some of it straightened out. I did apologize for getting so upset with them.
Way to go! It can be a pain in the butt, but I'm glad you got it resolved.
