Six years ago, on a bright and beautiful Tuesday morning, a new kind of enemy came to America's shores.
We will never forget the images of that terrible day -- the planes vanishing into buildings, the thick black clouds of smoke, and the haunting pictures of the missing.
On this anniversary, we pause to remember each and every victim of those attacks.
We celebrate the lives that were tragically cut short. We grieve with the families and friends who lost loved ones. We honor the service and sacrifice of the emergency responders who set an example to the whole world that in America we are our brother's keeper and our sister's keeper.
And we pause to honor the brave men and women of the United States military -- and their families -- who have borne such a heavy burden for the last six years.
We also remember how Americans were stirred to a common purpose. On the lines to donate blood or the candlelight vigils that stretched across our country, there was no red America and there was no blue America. We were united in our grief for our fellow citizens. We were united in our resolve to stand with one another and to stand up to terror. We were united as Americans.
Six years later, the threat to America has only grown. Al Qaeda has reconstituted a new safe-haven where it trains recruits and plots attacks. Al Qaeda's top two leaders, Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri, continue to disseminate their hate-filled propaganda and inspire legions of followers. Like-minded extremists have struck in scores of countries. The war in Iraq continues to fuel terror and extremism. A Taliban insurgency rages on in Afghanistan. In too many disconnected corners of the world, hate is casting a shadow over hope.
Our calling today remains the same as it was on 9/11. We must write a new chapter in American history. We must bring justice to the terrorists who killed on our shores. We must devise new strategies, develop new capabilities, and build new alliances to defeat the threats of the 21st century. We must extend hope to the hopeless corners of the world and reaffirm our core values to counter the hateful message of the extremists. And we must secure a more resilient homeland.
To write that new American story, we must recapture that sense of common purpose that we had on September 11, 2001.
America is bigger than the challenge that came to our shores. Let us honor the legacy of those we lost by coming together anew. Let us always mark this day by affirming that hope will triumph over fear, and that a new generation of Americans will seek a safer, freer, and more perfect union.

Bundy -- thanks!
It is a rare occasion for Senator Obama to send letters to those on his mailing list.
I just knew today would be one of those days.
You can also tell he wrote this one himself.
He pretty much says it all, doesn't he.

The Presidential answer for the 21st Century is Barack Obama.
(I can't give them to him)
I'll vote for him if he's the Dem - I'm voting for whoever that one is. YAY!
I will save my "who I am voting for" for the elections and vote for who is the best for the US.
Thank you Nalita for posting this.
Lived with them quite a bit, close relationship. He must have learned all that "racism" from his White grandparents, Stanley and Toot.
Hmmm. Very interesting
What government tell a woman the choices she must decide for her own health. Isn't that a discussion between her and her health care professional? Yet certain men, whom I am certain have never been pregnant think they can dictate this to a woman.
On Senator Obama's site:
REPRODUCTIVE CHOICE
Supports a Woman's Right to Choose:
Barack Obama understands that abortion is a divisive issue, and respects those who disagree with him. However, he has been a consistent champion of reproductive choice and will make preserving women's rights under Roe v. Wade a priority as President. He opposes any constitutional amendment to overturn the Supreme Court's decision in that case.
Preventing Unwanted Pregnancy:
Barack Obama is an original co-sponsor of legislation to expand access to contraception, health information and preventive services to help reduce unintended pregnancies. Introduced in January 2007, the Prevention First Act will increase funding for family planning and comprehensive sex education that teaches both abstinence and safe sex methods. The Act will also end insurance discrimination against contraception, improve awareness about emergency contraception, and provide compassionate assistance to rape victims."

We already know that Republicans -- as your profile states right now you are -- are afraid of Barack Obama. Half of the group I volunteer in with "Obama for America" are professed cardbearing REPUBLICANS, and that disturbs you, doesn't it?
It's the strangest thing I have ever seen, and I have attended some political meetings. There are ALL these Republicans there. You don't know, of course, until you begin chatting with them and they say it and then you want to pick up the "proverbial" gun, because you are thinking,
"Hey, hey -- hold on just one minute. Rustlers are here to steal the cattle!"
But, no!
They tell you they are remaining true to Republican values, but are fed up with the current Republican Party leaders and embrace Senator Obama platform and philosophies --
A clean, honest, forthright (and as you said) uniter
whose purpose is to return to country to the principles upon which it was founded.
Need I also state that every one of these Republican volunteers I have met thus far is White?
Sure, the Republican Party is concerned -- very concerned.
What Hillary can't do with a November 2008 election
Obama shall --
Beat them!
And they know it.
:=)
The Senator's record stands and is clean. Is yours?
Shall we go there?
I know all about the imposter and what he did to get to where he got, speaking of so-called "Christian" men.
You really want to rrrrrrollll with me? :=)
I'M BUSY!
Better things to do than to deal with a Hank Hanegraff "waa waa" "help me Hank!"
You want some of me, I'll deal with you tomorrow. :=)
BYE!
"I would say he has a good speech writer...the other positions that he holds to (having God eliminated from the public arena, pro-abortion [murder], and pro-gay marriage) should be questionable to say the least for those that take Scripture seriously...not to mention his denomination is extremely racist...

"Obama's denomination is the Trinity United Church of Christ. This is the single most liberal and largest african-american protestant denomination.
This is what their statement of faith reads, "We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian... Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community."
Is it just me, or do I catch an overtone of racism? Just imagine if there was a church which claimed to be dedicated to the "White Community", etc. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would be screaming racism! After all, that's what keep their shows popular.

"It is interesting that the "woman's right to choose" concept never seems to be brought to its logical conclusion. This "choice" is also known as murder. Everyone is outranged when they hear of a mother bringing a child to term and dumping the child in a garbage can because she doesn't want it. Most people would want that mother throw in jail at the very least. Yet, if the mother murders her unborn baby, then there is no outrage. No accountability. In both cases, the mother has murdered her baby. Politicians like Obama even support it. Bottom line: This is not even about a "woman's right"…it is about the preservation of human life under any and all circumstances. Does a woman have a "right" to dump her baby into a dumpster and leave it for dead? The value of the unborn in God's eyes is priceless. Also, this has nothing to do with supposed "male superiority." There is no such thing. We are all ontologically equal standing before God. All of the genetic information for full personhood is present upon conception. Every politician says they want to cut down on abortions, yet the necessary steps are not being taken. More have died in the abortion holocaust than in all of the wars combined in the United States' history. Who is "armed with truth" here, Nalita? I don't care what color of skin anyone happens to be…all I was pointing out is that Obama is a racist on many levels….of course, you would know that if you heard him talk. I don't care if this man had white grandparents. Does that prove that he is not currently a racist? Also, I hope that the people in here are aware that when Obama speaks or lets a statement out, it is entirely from his advisors—not from him directly. When giving speeches, he is reading what his speech writers wrote for him or from a monitor. This is nothing new in the political arena, but just don't kid yourself when you hear his persuasive rhetoric—it's not from him—it's the professional writers that want to see him elected. Also, you speak as if Obama has already won the nomination and beaten the only more troubling candidate I could possibly think of—Hillary. He will have his work cut out for him to say the least to even win the nomination.
