1 in 4 women and 1 in 33 men will be a victim of rape.
If you are raped:
* It is not your fault!
* You can receive free medical care. Call RVAP at 335-6000 or go to the hospital emergency room as soon as possible.
* You can receive free medication for sexually transmitted infections and pregnancy prevention.
* You have the legal right to have an advocate present for all medical and legal processes. Call RVAP for an advocate.
* It is your decision whether to report to the police.
* The primary focus of a sexual assault police investigation is the sexual assault, not underage drinking or minor drug use.
The Rape Victim Advocacy Program (RVAP):
* offers free and confidential information, support, advocacy & counseling to victim/survivors of sexual assault and their partners, friends, and family members
* is a UI student organization
* is located near campus at 320 S. Linn Street.
