I read a blog on MSN tonight where people were talking about the age and the mileage on their cars. I thought it would be neat to introduce this topic on Gather.
I love Hondas. They are not my dream cars but I do not believe there is a more reliable car on the road. In 1999 I bought a 1992 Honda Accord DX five speed that had 175,000 miles and I would not hesitate to buy another Honda with high mileage especially if I knew that it had been well cared for. I bought the car from our local Honda dealer. The car was a one owner that had never been wrecked as far as I could tell and I really looked that car over. The only evidence of any body damage that I could find was a small crease just in front of the driver's side back door. I could tell the people who owned it before had small children because the back seat was stained in a few place and their were indentions in the seat material from a child's car seat. It ran like a top and I drove it for about four years until I unfortunately rear-ended a Town Car. The car had 194,000+ thousand miles on it when the accident happened.
The second Honda that we have with high miles is a 1998 Honda Accord that we bought new in September of 1997. The model was so new that we had to wait two weeks for it to be delivered to the dealership. We have now owned the car for almost ten years now and we are going to drive it until it is totaled or the wheels fall off but hopefully it will be the latter. As I am writing the post today the old Accord has about 155,500 and it still runs like a top. My wife and I have never had to pay for anything but routine maintenance on this car. At 102,000 we put a timing belt and had the full car serviced for the serviced that is due at 105,000. At seventy-six thousand miles the catalytic converter went out but it was replaced for free under Honda's eighty thousand emissions warranty. It is a little battered and bruised put we paid it off at the end of 2002 and we have immensely enjoyed not having car payments for the last five years. Here within the next year or so my wife and I are contemplating purchasing a Honda Odyssey minivan or a Pilot SUV. We have a growing child and two dogs one of which weighs eight pounds so we need the extra room that our Accord does not provide. We are not trading in our trusty Accord though. I will take it over and personally I would like to put another 155,000 before we sent it to car heaven.
Just for those of you who were wondering my dream cars all are all or rear wheel drive. I look forwarded to hearing about everyone's cars.

Hubby's '92 Z71 has 202K on it. Both run like new, and hubby's in spite of being hit FOUR times! LOL! That is one tough truck, for sure.
I only buy American, wouldn't consider foreign. Not now, not ever. I'm a Chevy chick all the way.
Ruth and Marianne keep on racking up the miles and thanks for commenting.
David and WM keep on racking up the miles on your cars.
I'll drive it till it dies!
Goes anywhere and runs great; just put gas in it and go... ;-)
We also have "the beast." It's a 1994 S10. My husband got it when he was 16, and it had about 75000 miles on it. Since then, he's rolled it up on it's top once, and took it through a fence and onto it's side another time. The cab and the tailgate have both been replaced now. It has somewhere around 175,000 miles on it, I think. It needs a new transmission now. We worked it too hard when we were moving this summer. We have way too much stuff. I think it took about 20 trips with a car trailer to move everything! It just overworked the transmission, but my husband wants to get it fixed and keep it going.
My first car was my dad's old truck. It was a 1993 GMC Sonoma. When I returned it to him and bought my own car, it had over 300,000 miles on it! It finally had a cracked head and he got rid of it when it 312,000 miles on it.
My Celica at 142k miles
