Do you believe that everything happens for a reason?
I was a unhappy pessimist for a long time. I felt that bad things always happen to me, I was a victom in many ways. I was exposed to many things at a young age and I could easily be angry at the world for "happening to me".
Once I read a quote that described the values of struggles in life. Everything that defines you comes as a struggle or hardship. Those easy moments in life do not make you it is the struggles that shape you. The truly good moments wold not be as good without the bad.
So, I just lost my job. It was a job that didn't make me super happy to begin with but I needed to work to pay the bills so I pressed on. On Thursday I was let go rather unfairly but rather than dwelling on the situation I choose to move forward. I am not sure what the reason is for what is happening right now but I do have faith that there is a reason.
So, what things can you recall that "happend for a reason" in your life?

I was in a similar situation as you. Three months after I was fired from a job I hated, I found a job that paid almost twice what the other one paid, MUCH better benefits, nicer people, and I was promoted after a year and a half on the job (promotion was over 30% salary increase).
You never know what opportunity lies around the corner....
I also believe the adage that when one door closes, another will open.
I hope these changes will let many opportunities open up for you.
