Everybody knows that scented candles are a perfect way to release fragrant aromas into your enviroment slowly and gently over a period of time. Their effects are subtle, enfluencing your mood and emotions more than your physical condition. But, did you know they are also good for easing discomfort related to physical conditions, such as headaches, fatigue, insomnia?
You can buy scented candles ready-made, but you can easily make your own scented candles, personalizing them with your favorite scent. Its easy! Really!
Some of you may already know this, but for those of you that do not.....did you know you can scent your own candles with a few drops of essential oil? This is the quick and easy way to make scented candles.
(1) While you are burning your unscented candle, let it burn until there is a pool of melted wax around the wick. (2) When you have a nice pool of liquid wax, you are ready to add your essential oil(s) Add a few drops of the oil(s) of your choice to the pool of wax, and leave the candle to harden. **WARNING: blow out your candle BEFORE adding your oil. Some oils are volitile, so never ever add oils while your candle is still burning** (3) When the wax has completely cooled down and hardened, you may light the candle again, and the aroma will slowly be released as the candle burns.
Here are some scent ideas:
Chamomile: this scent eases headaches when burned in the background, and aids sleep when you burn your candle for an hour before you retire.
Lavender: another great essential oil for headaches and relaxation.
Pine: this is a natural antisceptic and purifier, and great for covering up lingering odors, and is a natural stimulant as well; it is good for fatigue and stress.
Grapefruit and Orange: these scents are both invigorating scents and will boost your energy when you are feeling sluggish. Burn it in the morning to help you wake up.
Jasmine: this fragrant essential oil helps cheer you up when you are feeling down.
Geranium: this is great to alleviate stress, depression and anxiaty.
Lemon: stimulates the mind & remedies loss of concentration.
Rose: a soothing nerve tonic good for depression, mood swings, and panic attacks.
Sandlewood: this oil is calming and good for insomnia, anxiety, and depression.
Ylang Ylang: a sweet floral fragrance good for insomnia, and stress.
Frankincense: this one is good for treating grief and trauma.
You can mix and match oils to make any combination of your liking, just experiment and see which are best for you.
